I wil be upgrading my combo soon and qas wondering how or if anyone is using turbonetics ballbearing turbos..... Whats the diff bn pte, limit, and turbonetics????
Actually guys, these turbos listed on the T-netics site are just the standard combos they offer. We at Cotton's Performance use custom configurations to achieve higher HP levels or desired spoolup time based on a particular combination, type of driving or performance desired. In other words, a loose convertor for the desired performance is not always necessary, picking out a combo with me will allow for my experience to help you choose a combo that works for you, based on my experience building many cars over the years. An example of that experience would be the car we built for a customer from NY, for Frankie. We built this car in several articles with GMHTP magazine based on a 10 second street car. I can assure you, it is no slouch even though we have yet to get a time slip. We plan on running the car at Atco next saturday before the Buick-Ford shootout and I fully expect it to run "the" number we built it to run and still be fully streetable. Frankie picked up the car from my shop in Mass lastw eek, driving back home to New Rochelle, all I can say, he is more than happy with the street manners and is yet to open up the throttle fully with 15lbs of boost. Speaking with him a few times this past week has led me to believe the Turbonetics 70-p ball bearing turbo coupled with a N|L up Art Carr convertor runs beautifully on the street and highways, he has zero complaints. Combination is everything here, one part out of cink can kill a combo. Dan's turbo, a 66-Q-trim is a killa turbo...... another example of a slight turbine wheel change from the standard P-trim...
As for the comparison between the different turbo suppliers, T-netics makes all of their own parts, their BB turbos are second to none, we have been selling them for more than 5 years with almost perfect results. The design is one that is proprietory to them, no one can copy. Hence others have come up with dual BB's, requiring water cooling, which you do not need with the T-netics turbo. T-netics comes wiith a full 1 year warrentee, built in oil feed filter, VSR balancing, (balanced as a complete rotating assembly), no one else does that, polished compressor housing, all turbos are big shaft units, no one else offers that either. We are a dealer for Precision Turbo and also offer their products, the new DBB turbo are built by Garret and have been adapted by Precision for use on our Turbo cars, another excellent alternative for us to offer. Although they are relatively new to us, they seem to work excellent as well, willl require water cooling and I believe a turbo savor is recommended to keep a clean supply of oil feeding it. As with any Ball bearing turbo, spool up characteristics are greatly improved when using a BB turbo.
hope this helps,
