this might be a dumb question but how come turbos make no difference at stock boost levels 0 to 18# people are saying no difference between stock, 44,49 and 51 is there a difference with a 60 series over these in stock level? i figured you have to be moving alot more air and pressure with a bigger intake and exhaust wheel.

Yes there would be a differance, one being the FLOW: TE-44 850CFM/ TA-49 800cfm, HP: TE-44 580hp/ TA-49 545hp. Stock flow and hp would be considerably lower. but also keep in mind if your moving up in turbo you also want to move up on injectors. Stock injectors are 28lb, you should think about 55lb or 60lb injectors. I see you got a good fuel pump so that's okay. and you won't belive the change you feel when you install a 3" terry houston down pipe, "big diff". hope some of this answers some of your qwestions. scot w.

In a simplified nutshell: The larger turbos take more exhaust volume to spin so if you go too large the turbo takes forever to spool and create boost. The smaller the turbo the easier/faster it can spool and develop boost but you also sacrifce upper RPM CFM where the larger turbos are designed. It's a tradeoff..

The larger you go in turbo you need to make the correct additions also. Like the STALL it can make ALL the difference in the world in spooling with no LAG and doesn't take forever for it to spool!! I was running a TE-44 w/ 9'' 3400 stall art- carr converter and it spooled instantly!! at 46mph, 23lb boost I could stomp it and spin the tires for about 60ft. It's all in complimenting your upgrades with the correct parts to make them work properly. scot w.

stall

Hey Scott W.How did the TE-44 work with that much stall.I have a D-5 restalled to 2800 with my 44 and it just feels like it needs more.I don't really drive the car much so I'm not really worried too much with driveability.Any info would be great.I'm thinking of going with a 10inch Pat's around 3200-3400 stall.
