Okay I'm thinking of going to a te44 turbo instead of my pt51, Because of there blowing up problem. What do you guys think? My goal is to run low 11's I have 009's terry houstin down pipe 2800 stall converter,trasher chip fuel system hads been upgraded too.

There are those out there in the Buick world that will tell you that you can run low 11's with a TE44 and 009's. MAYBE, MAYBE-NOT. In the real world it will be extremely difficult to accomplish and will most likely cost you some parts trying it.

You can read the mods to my car in my sig. The engine is totally unmodded internally, and the best I've been able to sqweeze out of if is the 11.60's on my PTE44/MSD50 combo. Since I was running my last set of injectors (red stripe 40's) at over 120% duty cycle to run high 11.90's, I can't imagine how 009's can "safely" be run in the low 11's.

The MSD50's can probably get you there, the reason I think so is mine are running at mid 80% duty cycles at my present level of 11.60's.

I have to launch REAL hard and run no less than 25# of boost to get this little PTE44 to run the numbers!

If MY target were low 11's, I'd be looking to install a PTE54 or equivalent. I've got about everything else I need, except some head work.

not a lot of difference between the two....neither one is really a low 11 sec turbo........the '51 has a better shot at it, but in my experience, the '44 is a high 11 sec turbo and the '51 mid 11's....both purty much maxxed out (high boost)

Thanks guys so i should stay with the 51, add bigger injectors 50lbs and get 25# of boost?

one local car here runs the '51 with 50's, V4, trans brake (60's in the low 1.6's) and 25++ lbs of boost...it runs 11.5 on a good day...11.4 on a great day...you figure it out...your reach is exceeding your grasp a bit I think.....never hurts to try tho

Ed,

If you want a low 11 second ride, you should plan/build your motor to run at least high tens. Take your time, research and try to do it right the first time!!!!

Good Luck! FWIW, check my sig. I am running these numbers at relatively low boost(fairly safe compared to some #'s I've seen) and I cannot get my car to 60 ft yet.(1.71 to 1.78). If you really want to low 11's, you have got to do what what cpakcp said. Not trying to rain on your party, just trying to save you money, time, and aggravation from continual upgrades to get to your goal.

Dave and Woody pretty much nailed it. A 44 will go mid 11s and once in a blue moon, someone might get a bit more. A 51 should give another tenth or two.
