Yeah, this is probably a dumb question, but before I end up breaking something i'll ask (rather than break first ask questions later, per usual).

The turn signal control thing under the kick panel. Mine has gone bad so I have a new one from the auto parts store. How do you remove the old one? Does it just pull straight out? I gave it a good tug, but I didn't want to pull any harder in case that wasn't how to remove it.

Also is there any other trick to this. Good to know ahead of time.

Thanks

I just bought one and am waiting for mine in the mail...

But, I checked the chilton manual and it seems like more work than it should. You have to remove the steering wheel and that metal plate directly behind the steering wheel (lockplate, is it called?) . It says to put the lever in the right turn position and remove a screw, i believe ( this is all from memory, as my manual is in my trunk now). Then you should be able to remove it. Let me know how it went...any problems, etc. cuz I'm gonna have to eventually do mine.

Are you talking about the stalk (handle) or turn signal cam? Either way, you may have to remove the steering wheel and compress tha lock plate and remove the snap ring. If it is the stalk, pull the old stalk out and and cut the wires (on the old stalk) and fold the wire end of the new stalk and tape it to the ols stalk wires and pull it to the bottom and untape and plug in. For the cam, it's best to have a diagram as you're disassembling, and start taking pieces out in order until you get to the cam, replace and reassemble.

I am referring to something different. I am talking about the turn signal blinker control that is under the kick panel. It is on the top of the fuse panel in the drivers footwell area, not the thing turn signal switch on the steering column, which I am sure is more difficult to mess with.

The turn signal blinkder control is an 8 dollar part from autozone and has a two prong connection. I just wanted to know if it was a simple plug in that I could pull out, or if there was a trick to getting it out. I didn't want to break anything, so I thought I would ask first.

Thanks

If I understand right, you're talking about the flasher. It sits in a metal clip, just above the speed sensor module. Just remove it form the clip, separate the connector from the flasher and reconnect. The connector is L shaped, so it can only go on one way. The flasher in the near or in the fuse box is to control the hazard lights, and the turn signal flasher located behind the dash, between the radio and steering column above the speed sensor module.
