To those of you who haven't turned 65 years old yet, DON'T! I will be 65 in March and it's like the phone doesn't stop ringing and the junk mail is giving my mailman a hernia. Everybody is trying to sell me Medigap insurance. After the elections I thought I would finally have some quiet without the phone ringing off the hook all day. But no! It went from politics to insurance. Then yesterday I got an envelope from AARP. They said it was on behalf of my former employer and they had the list of plans I could select from. It even had a bunch of my information like my name, address, and birthdate. Then today I got a letter from my former employer. It was my new insurance package for this year. It has some changes because of my turning 65 but, there is nothing about AARP or any of the other companies that have been bugging the crap out of me. Thanks for letting me vent!

I agree with you, it is a PITA. Find a good medicare ins. rep and they can explain a lot of the details. Another good thing about living in Texas (I think this is statewide) is that you don't have to pay property tax after your 65. Mine went to $0 where I live.

I like this old Fart Forum. I have no problem with the junk mail ... it' makes great reading material while I'm on the Al Bundy throne..:(:(

Junk mail can be fun.

Save it up until you receive something with a postage paid return envelope. Then stuff that envelope full with all of your saved up junk mail, place it in the mail box & raise the little red flag.

I'm sure my mail person has probably looked a bit  a few times when confronted with an envelope that is now over a 1/2" thick. :D
