Gentlemen,
I'll try to be brief.
Timeline:
April 12 - had transmission rebuilt locally by a trusted builder
Borg Warner and Alto parts among others. Transmission runs great, shifts perfectly and I love the 10" lock up convertor with 2800 stall. One problem: the converter whines and will not lock up.
April 15 - tranny shop pulled the converter out and I sent it back in to the company for a new convertor. Stock convertor was put back in. Tranny shifts hard as it was built for a smaller convertor with a high stall. It's bearable though.
May 15 - Finally got new converter in the mail.
May 16 - Tranny shop did the swap. Picked it up tonight. Ran great for the first five miles. Then I noticed some quirky shift problems. The 1-2 shift practically would not happen and the 3-2 downshift almost had me kissing the steering wheel. Brought the car home, adjusted the shifter and the t.v. cable. Went for a test drive, and the car shifted fine for the first two miles and then started acting quirky again. I don't think it's a governor problem. Am I right? I'm leaning toward it possibly being a t.v. cable problem (stretched, worn out, etc.) What do you think?
Appreciate your help. - BB
