tv plunger spring

How hard is it to check the tv plunger spring my car is not downshifting to 1st gear when I come to a complete stop .is it something I can do myself ??

I doubt the spring is the problem. You probably have over 90 psi at min TV. Id try taking a click or 2 out of it first. What size boost valve and pressure reg spring are you using?

Trans was done about 7 years ago by PTS and has held up awsome I have gone mid 10,s for years with it ,I have no idea what boost valve or spring was used. This problem has been on and off for years now ,I have tried the tv adjustment and no change. I have to put the trans in nuetral when I come to a stop and then back to D to make sure it goes into first when I take off . sometimes it will downshift on its own ???

I would call Bruce since he built it. I bet the line pressure is a little high preventing the 2-1 downshift.

Use a smaller boost valve.

If the boost valve that is in there now was working fine for years why is now too big ?? seems to me something is hanging or sticking somewhere ...

If the 1/2 shift valve sticks it will cause what you have going on as well.remove the valve body and check it out.It may also be that the valve body needs to be retorqued.Check the footprint left behind by the gasket while its apart.
