I just read this in Dennis Kirban's Inner Circle email and realized that my car has this option. Anyone else have "twilight sentinel" on their cars?

"I think most Turbo Regal owners would agree, one of the rarest and seldom seen factory options would be the "Twilight Sentinel Headlight Control." This is the exact wording Buick used for its description. The trunk ID code on your trunk label for this option would be "T82." The suggested retail price from Buick remained the same from 1984 through 1987 at $57.

Of the 300-plus 1986-1987 Turbo Regals that I have sold, I never kept track of what percentage of the cars had this option.

This option was not part of the long list of options that came on the GNX. (I have a GNX window sticker that confirms this was not standard on the GNX). It is one of the rare options Buick offered on the Turbo Regal. Rarer still would have been the engine block heater, seldom seen in the southern states!"

Yep. I got it on my sorta-loaded car. Have no use for it. To me it doesn't seem that rare, or useful. One day I bumped the roller switch on accidentaly, and when I shut the car off the headlights stayed on. I cussed that f**king car for several minutes before I realized what happened.

I bet my car still hasn't forgiven me for all the things I said to it that day. It can't help it that it was born a general motors product.

I still think that there's rarer options out there even for grand nationals (with less option availability than a T or Limited). There's sure a lot of options that are more desireable or useful, in my opinion.

Both my WE4 and the GN have it.

If you are using it and the gray wire breaks off the shifter bulb and shorts out you blow up the sentinel amplifier and cook the little chip inside it.

I found that out the hard expensive way.

I don't use it anymore I put up motion control lights so I don't need the headlights on to find my way to the door anymore.

Good interest in the twil light feature....my point was in the scheme of things and based on the number of cars I have owned twil light sentinel is fairly rare. If you were to look at a row say of 50 or more 1984-1987 Turbo Regals in one single setting I don;t believe you would see many with that option. Some options of course did not cross over to every Turbo Regal. Options such as exterior colors some of them would be rare also. So to clarify I should have stated interior related options in that case twil light is fairly rare to find in a Turbo Regal.

Alot more common in todays cars.

i have had around 60 regals/ t types / turbo t's / gn's and i only ever had 2 cars with this option

Ya when I was looking for another GN I was looking for this option just cause I knew it was rare..hard to find

Was going to install one in my '87 GN, but it doesn't have the harness/connector at the location for the sentinal box..: So I have to continue doing it the hard way...using my finger.....

you just have a rare wiring harness / most of them are wired for but never used .. Its was more cost effective to make one harness for all the cars .. Somewhere down the line gm figured that out ..
