Two Problems, one strange one stupid

The first problem has been haunting me since I installed the tranny from Art Carr. It was a real problem and embaressing at the track yesterday. After a run when I let off the gas tranny oil is venting out and burning on the exhaust system. It looks like I blew a motor. The fluid level is dead nuts on. WTF????

How are most people changing wide open shift points. Currently mine shifts at 5000 every time. Is it the same type of governor as in a 700 r4 and you just start clipping the springs. does someone make a kit with different springs or weights?

Thanks for the help. Oh by the way I did a 11.17. First time at the track with this motor. Drove it to the track, two hours there and two hours back.
