ok today I ended up meeting a fellow buick member just out of nowhere (spoolinGN)

anyways
when I was leaving his friend/brother not sure I just met them
asked me to do a burn out

so I held the brake and as soon as the boost came on and the tires were begining to let go
I let off on the brake and just hit it

well needless to say it was a huge cloud and I heard a slight backfire or something of that sort

well when I looked at the scan master it read me back O2s 847
knock retard 24*

so that totally scared the **** out of me
any reason that would cause it to knock doing that or is that normal and I should just watch out?

secondly sometimes when I am driving and come to a light and want to launch I put it in D and not over drive

as I look at the RPMS they seem like they are too high all the time (not sure what redline is at in these cars) however it feels like I run out of gear when I do that
even when I went to the track I put it in over drive cause if felt like I ran out of gear

what could cause this? someone told me it was the governor on the transmission?
can these two problems be related somehow?

this is what is done with my car

new plugs and wires
spring cleaning
hooker cat back
THDP 3"
RJC power plate
Big Neck intercooler
Adj fpr
walbro 340 and hotwire
volt booster
boost gauge
thrasher 92 chip

here is what the car was at 44psi fuel pressure (line off)

also just to see what my boost is set at I went to the highway

I hit it and it went to about 17.5-18.5
and I got 3.4* of knock

however I did it again from a roll(45-50mph) to confirm that was the boost
boost went to same amount as above but no knock?

not sure what to do I know I need a new O2 sensor which is going on soon however I dont know where to begin or what

and before anyone asks its the stock gears

I think that is all the info I can give now

thanks ahead of time guys

Carl

redline on a Gn is usually 5200rpm and if it runs high RPM all the time u might have a non-lockup converter

Hey Carl,

Whats up, nice burn out but what no posi? That was my friend don't mind him hes alittle strange. I thought it sounded wierd when it got higher in the boost. What kind of Gas you running? Hope you can figure that out and i will keep in touch if you ever need help or want to go to Englishtown.

I told my brother about your car and he said he thinks he knows you from RVCC. He said he saw that car up there a few times in lot 1. If you ever see a 94 black Z28 with red carbon fiber badges and chrome SS rims, stop and talk...His name is Pat

Have fun

To lower shift point, May try backing off Trans cable (TV). Or , that would be pushing it in a few clicks towards ft of car. But be conservative as too little tv will smoke trans.I over revved my gn while experimenting with governer calibrations and it showed massive knock. I know it was just reading the noise of the overrev. Why the heel do the chip makers allow such high rev limits?!
Im getting very:o sleepy:o

Be careful messing with your TV cable, just set it to factory spec and leave it.if you push the cable in you will soften the shift and lower line pressure which will help shorten the life of you trans clutches, too far in it will delay shift by holding the gear longer and not give full throttle opening. With the car off pull the TV cable out(that means move the cable toward the firewall of the car notice how many markings are showing), then mash the gaspedal hard to the floor with the floor mat removed you should hear it pop.It will then be set. (look again at the markings see where its at now)
What DIA tires are you running in the rear are they 25"-26" if so thats why you are running out of RPM in D you will need a 28" tire to run the 1/4 in D locking the converter helps lower rpm too.

Hope this helps

Frank

How are your valve springs? Tired stockers will cause valve float at elevated rpms.

Alrighty, Some locals. I have no solution to your prob. But i 'm just checking in to say what's up from Stirling NJ. (That little town between Berkely Heights and Basking Ridge)

I'd bet the knock was wheelspin knock. Do a search and see what I mean. Thats why I try to do "mild" burnouts.
