I recently put this in my 11,000 mile original tranny,Was this a good idea? I'm reading now that tractor fluid is better. Should I leave F in it. I read somewhere that F is too thick for the 200r4.I'm in NY and don't want any problems w/tranny in winter. Should I put Dex II back in. Thanks

You aren't going to harm anything using type F. A lot of guys do use it. It basically comes down to nothing more than personal preference. You will find the guys at the top running everything from straight Dextron, Dextron/tractor hydraulic mix, type F, and all kinds of synthetics. You should be in good shape either way. I would suggest though, which ever fluid you use, at 11k miles, you need to change it soon.

Maybe somebody should make a poll as to which kind of fluid they use. I see this question come up a bunch.

Thanks,I just bought the car and did a fluid and filter change using Type F. I'm concerned now,if this will flow good enough in the winter months. I have read after putting the F in that it is too thick. What do you think?

A friend of mine is an Amzoil dealer and I have been using 1/2 Amzoil and 1/2 Type F in my GN since I built the trans in 99. No ill effects. The fluid has more "gripping ability" in it since it was made for different clutches than the normally used paper units out now a days. Think of it as a cheaper, red B&M racing fluid. I ran pure Type F in one of my TH350's for 8 years straight (services of course) without adding any other type of fluid. Sold that trans to a guy who stuck it into his 11 second car and it's still going strong.
