Here we go again with this continued wrong parts thing!

Got UMI 3012 bolts here from one of our major vendors! They are too short. ...and it sez right on my packing slip...lower rear arm bolts!

Am I missing something here? Or were these packaged wrong?

The bolt falls short of the hole. Lower mount on rear axle:

They are definitely the wrong bolts.

You could measure the length of the bolt, original if you have one [shoulder to tip], or measure the width of the control arm and add 1/2" to 3/4" depending on width of washer and bolt to account for the nut and lock washer and get everything needed at home cheapo or local hardware store for less money and KNOW that you have the right parts.

You don't need to wait on a vendor to ship out the right/wrong part and can get what you need the same day if you spend 5 minutes with a tape measure.

You won't really find an M12x90mm 10.9 grade bolt at one of the box stores.

I just called my local Fastenal. Have to order.

Grainger has them!

The mix-up must have occurred when I ordered Front Upper Control Arms....and a Rear Lower Control Arm hardware kit. Someone must have seen "Front Upper Arms" and grabbed the bolt kit for them. ... Not so there grasshopper!!

I've got my original bolts, but snapped one.

It figures... I work at a place that ships freight. I haven't screwed up an order in forever. (grass seed for Lowes, years ago!)

BUT,I get home and find I have been sent the wrong hardware because someone mis-picked the wrong stuff.

I tried to call, but keep getting "Due to call volume...."

If you're going to custom order bolts, why not get some fine thread aircraft fasteners with longer shank areas?

Is there such a thing as metric aircraft fasteners? Maybe planes made overseas? Then how would I get them and be sure they meet grade 10.9 or 8 specs?

My local Grainer had the bolts. ...but no nuts. They are the black 10.9's like factory. USA made, too. The Ace down the road had the hardened "top-lock" nuts and washers.

If I knew of an easy way to get the hardware you are describing,I would have. At this point I'd just like to get the car back on the ground with factory spec or above hardware. I guess it's something to look for in the future.

Time to bolt those arms on soon, today. I want to get the back down so that I can get the front up and start on the upper A-arms.

Those wrong bolts that I received?? I can just use them on the front, since that is what they are for.

I recall an aircraft fastener supply website from a boat messageboard I used to frequent. I was surprised that the prices weren't 1000% of normal. Most of them had about 1/2 of threads that way the super anal (giggity) wouldn't have to buy longer oddbally lengths and hack off 1/2 the threads.

I figured as an aircraft controller, you'd know about an aircraft supply house :D

Nope. But I do know where the boxes of used/spare nuts and bolts are, tho!

There is nothing even similar to an M12 x 90 931-10.9. If there was,it would be aluminum.

The rear is back down on the carpet! I just lowered the jack 5 min ago. Was gonna go for a ride, but it started raining. Now to raise the front..

I used Metco lower rear arms. To get new bolts,I ordered them from a vendor here. They were the wrong bolts. They sent a UMI front A-arm bolt kit instead.

The bolts seem ok. They are marked with 10.9 grade.
