Hell, they tried to total my TTA because someone tried to run over the LF fender with a Durango.Total damage was around $2000 alot of which was paint work. I wish I could have seen the adjusters face when Webleyaz (board member, TTA owner, and body shop guy I used) told him fine, total it and pay the $20,000 book value. That was the last of the talk about totaling of my car.

Definately go with new prices for parts. Even if they aren't available, there will usually still be a price for them.

As for your intercooler, since the stock one isn't available anymore, ask them to locate one for you. I would guess it will be pretty expensive for an NOS one.:D

Play dirty, it is the only way to get ahead. Also if you decide to do alot of the work yourself, expect to do a couple of supplemental claims for "hidden damage" as they will only include the damage they can see and never want to pay out for something that "might" be damaged.

I sent my adjuster Kirban's sold cars, Auto-Trader cars, NADA Collectables book value today and it must be sinking in some. He phones at 6:30 which is past hours to ask me to take on a project. Now he wants me to find the parts I need to fix it and submit it to him.... he said they may not total it. More work for me but worth it if it doesn't get totalled. I basically need from the radiator support forward. I know the hood, fillers, grill, lights and air-dams are available new. I don't know about the bumper, supports or other items. I am going back with fiberglass anyways but need the stock stuff for the list. I got a list from BWeavy but I don't think he had "all" the stuff that is still available new.

As for the car value.... It was straight and everything from front to back including the interior, trans and motor were new, just needed painted. I would say at least 10k for it. The guy did say judging from the motor appearance it looked to be 5k alone.... which is why I wonder how he can feel right telling me the car is a total loss at 5k:rolleyes:

Good old Bweavy. That man has saved more cars than I'd care to count.
If the insurance company decides to let the car live, why not let Brian and the guys do the work?
I'm sure he can bill them and save you the hassle.
Next time have a sharp eye out for those "mall cows".
They're a dangerous and unpredictable breed.

The plot thickens!

Now my rep said he switched computers the other day and the digital pics he took of my car got lost:rolleyes: He wants to come back to take more pics. I decided to call his boss today which she is a weekender and did manage to get info from the rep there that the reason for the new pics is to see whether my car should be totalled or fixed. I think it is going to get much worse before it gets any better. Anyone have any advice? My car's title says 160k miles but EVERYTHING is new so can I argue? Has me  at this point!

Read my post above again.
In the area you have:
Bweavy[parts and expertize]
Billy Anderson
An autobody at the front of the mall[next to Bweavy].
If anyone can put it all together and save your butt, these guys can.
They can vouch for what you've got done[on a Professional level] and can arrange whatever you should need.

new pics? DETAIL THAT CAR!!

wash it, wax it, dust the interior, vacuum it out, make it look showroom condition new.. that is, if it doesnt look that way already. If you looked at my car right now (dirty) and after i spend a weekend afternoon on it, you'd think it was a different car completely!

Excellent advice! The Rep has GOT to see & hear you LOVE your car!

Keep us posted, Jesse!

This is scary...its almost the same exact story I'm going through right now...said my car is worth 5k (second appraiser)...my rep saying he switched computers the other day and the digital pics he took of my car got lost... Said he wanted to come back to take more pics...they said my car was totalled too...I argued with the guy the first time and he said that my monte carlo was only worth $900 the first time...at least the second appraiser knew that my car was a buick and not a chevy...

Got a call from the Supervisor today. They actually are getting a clue now. She said the info I sent them put them on the right trail for actual value. She admitted the value to be anywhere from 7k to 15k this morning:D She also said the car wouldn't be totalled :D According to her the list I gave of bad parts was very good but many are discontinued. From what she said they use a Mitchell Guide  and some of the parts don't show under it. They are going to fix the car, just have to figure out the amount for stuff available/not available:cool: NOT TOTALLED :) I hope they can put something decent together so I don't have to pay a lot out of pocket in things they miss or low dollar on. Fingers are crossed!

Yup. I don't think it would have made any difference. Another member here had almost the same accident and suffered even more damage with metal units. Also going to fiberglass hood too:D

Even if they do try to low ball it or miss anything all you need to do is a suplement. They are very used to seeing them since they want to pay as little as possible. If a part ends up costing twice as much as they "estimated" they are still responsible for paying the full price unless they can find it cheaper. In the end they must pay for everything to get your car back to the condition it was in before the accident, so expect it to be a battle even after they give you a descent "estimate".

Good luck.

What a PITA! Now since the plan has changed and it isn't being totalled the amount given hasn't changed either. Just got the latest and it comes out to $3600.00 to fix everything. They did some searching and come up with a Kirban hood for $359.00 which is fiberglass....I had metal which costs more. Doesn't it have to go freight which costs more? They called Mike McCoy for the radiator support and other items and was qouted $25.00 to ship the header and radiator support.... no way! I think that "should" go freight too. All the other stuff they downgraded anything available to used. I will post the qoute tonight but they gave me the $1079.00 for the FM but knocked $200.00 off for the stocker. The Be-Cool radiator is a loss since I don't have the receipt. I think they only gave $99.00 for a radiator which is probably not the right one. I hope I can rebut it a little to make things right.

Fight the radiator, cuz that one will probably not have the coolers on it, and won't "work" in our cars. Also, wouldn't they be held liable if you got in another crash and the fiberglass hood didn't hold up the way a metal one would. Its going to cost more to get the fiberglass hood painted and finished. Fiberglass always needs a little extra work to make it fit right.
