guess we better give it some more time...I am no computer guru at all, but how the connection gets to various parts of the country can affect things for sure

right now, it is very fast here in AZ on cable

sooo, maybe disregard what I saw earlier today until otherwise verified..........I'll look at it again for a few days around the same time and see what happens

I think it's a conspiracy against TB.com and all the members or maybe the board is just cursed......

Did the server change IP addresses? If so, the regional delays may be due to the DNS tables being populated across the country.. Basically, as more routers (during their updates) know that xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = www.turbobuick.com the traffic will get a more direct route to the server increasing speed.

It's ripping here now.. Hope it lasts.. :)

To all at TurboBuick,

When we took over the site I made sure that the hardware running the board matched the original site. This proved way to underpowered! Getting a faster server setup and sent out to Colorado Springs took time. Too much time and I apologize. The reason the site kept going down was that the 'threads' table in the 'turbo' database kept getting corrupted. This, I believe, was because the site had alot of traffic and the processor was at 100% almost all the time.

This should be fixed now. We are running the board on RedHat. It is now a quad 550 pIII, 1 gig of RAM, same IP address.

I see that some of you are having problems with the speed of the site at times. We are currently tracking traffic to the site to see just how much bandwidth we need to have. Our ISP is also in the process of increasing bandwidth. They are sitting on top of an OC48 (2.4 gigabytes). Please understand that we are trying to get this site FAST and STABLE as traffic increases. By the way the search table has over 8 MILLION records in it!

There are going to have be some changes if this board is going to stay fast. Some of the older posts are going to have to be DELETED. For example: a set of rims for sale back in 2001. This thread could probebly be DELETED. I know that some of you are going to be upset that you will lose posting points but if you want to keep your RANK you will have to keep your posts current and up to date.

We will continue to listen to you, this site is for YOU!

Now I would like to say something to the individuals that enjoy taking digs at Bruce and I because of the site. GO SOMEPLACE ELSE! I guess that if you were driving down the road and saw a GN on the side of the road YOU would just keep driving? 'nough said!

Hey i think that you can delete info as long as it is not in the tech area,or any part of the board that has helpfull info.

No matter what you do anywhere you are always going to have people not happy, try not to let it upset you all.

We all love the board and miss it when it is down!

john

It's S L O W today for some reason. I was running fast yesterday. Road runner here. Every other site is blazing fast.

Central Florida.....

Its fast for a while...then slow...then fast again...you get the idea. When its fast its almost instant loading. When its slow...its painfully so. I am on RoadRunner Cable if that 411 helps.

Shoulda gotten a DX.... you put in a math coprocessor? Oh, and the 1600 baud modem dont help

People with spotty performance might want to try to DL a program called TJPing, and run a trace when the site is slow, and when its fast, to see where the bottleneck is. As mark said, it could be a cached page or DNS record somewhere along the line.

It could also be "your leg" or your high speed connection that is busy. A trace will tell you that.

Tracing to www.turbobuick.com [208.216.104.221]....

For example, hop #1 is a bottleneck, the trip from hop 9 to hop 10 is a bottleck and so on. It took less time to go from hop 13 to 14 (the destination) than hop 1 to 2. Which tells ME that the problem is along the trip to turbobuick and not so much turbobuick.com itself. Now, the site is loading fast right now, so this mat change at a time that the site slows down. I will trace from my location when its running bad and compare the trace to a good trip. Maybe we can find something we all have in common that is causing a problem.

Jim Testicle, How the hell are ya?!!! You win baby!!

He is 100% correct and the ip address that is the bottleneck is this one. This one connection is the cause.

13) 65.206.183.122

You found it! Good boy!
That is what we discovered too. It is a router.... NOT TB.COM! Thanks so much for explaining this. Like I said in another post, we are on it. Router being repaired or replaced as we speak.
I refuse to lose.........

Supersix how come you go over to TBS.com and b!tch about this site? and also bitch about moderaters and administration over there. Why dont you just talk to the people you have a problem with here instead of running over there like a news reporter telling people over there TB.com is F,,,cked up when its not.

OK genius, show me one thing I said that's wrong? Shall I link my posts on TBS.com?

Do a search on my posts and see that I have posted in the appropriate places and directed them towards the people that need to know. Just because I don't kiss a$$, and expect the board that we built (the users, the reason advertisers pay for the site) to function normally, doesn't make me an a$$hole, and who the hell are you anyway?

What have YOU contributed to this board? 3 posts in a YEAR? And great posts they are..

1. "****Stang are ******* buggy everyone has one and they stink"

2. "Yes bring it i will be there"

and number 3, this post.

Nice..

You claim to be an "autotech" (One word?), yet lend NO assistance to the Buick community.

As far as YOU should be concerned, I have a RIGHT to bitch.

I think the fix has worked. Been flying for two days.

Do you think you could help fix the Corral and Stangnet?

I am fed up - This has all happened since toelle took over, I don't know who's advising him about how to run the subsystem of the board, but they aren't doing their job. There is NO WAY the board grew much at all after debler dumped it, but it's been nothing but crap since he sold it.

I have never come across a slower, more unstable message board.

I would be REALLY pissed if I had become a vendor like I considered, I will never advertise there. (Well, if it was free )

He needs to **** or get off the pot as far as getting that board running like it should.

I posted a similar response to his dubious excuse thread in the lounge - No response yet, but we'll see. The thread is nothing but an ass-kissing fest..

They make snide remarks about Mike's email to all the Buick guys, but they had better get it together QUICKLY if they don't want to lose more users/advertisers..

BRING BACK DEBLER!!!
