Hey Guy's, what RPM do you think your engine is done by?

I am also crossing the finish line at 5000rpm which may explain the lack of mph since the engine is all done by 5k.

any ideas besides taller tires at this point?
Locking the converter lowers the rpm also. I think you would really like the 28x9 MTs also.

After looking at the DS files for the ME chip and RA107 chip something is really weird. When it shifts into 3rd it drops to 4000 but then climbs and levels off at 4300 rpm for 3 full seconds before the rpms starts to climb again..
I was also looking at the acceration rate of all my runs and compared them to last years runs with 28* of timing and last years runs had a higher acceration rate. So I am going back to 28*.
I did some testing last weekend and I can manually shift it at 5300 so I'm raising the shift point next time out.

I also hate myself but I just ordered a stretched IC from Thunder Fabs..:(

I also want a TA49 inlet bell so if anybody has one cheap let me know..

Kevins, pull the timing back to 26-28*, run about 20-21lbs of boost and launch the heck out of it. you might need to change your valve springs as they weaken after 15k miles or so. also try running a 28' tall tire if not already. you doing that and locking the converter right after the 2nd shift should net 110-111mph in 60* weather. also, crossing the finish line at 5k sounds alittle high, so running 28' tall tires and locking the converter will help that. BTW, i ran a 12.21@109 with a 1.67 60" locking the converter and running 26' tall tires with the stock turbo at 20psi. HTH Good Luck

When I went from drag radials and a stock intercooler to QTPs and a Thunder Fab I/C i picked up .7 seconds and 8 mph. Spool -up was also noticably better.

Kevin, that rpm leveling off for 3 seconds could be the tcc slipping when you locked the converter. If it holds perfectly the rpm will drop at least several hundred, just like on a shift, and if it is completely dead the rpm rate of climb won't even slow down. I've seen a few that kept the rpms constant for a few seconds like you observed, but you could usually hear them squealing some while they were slipping. Also, laying down at 4800-5000 rpm is the classic symptom of dying valve springs.

A few things that come to mind.....

I seen you post that you were running a 3" dp, what style is it? If it's set up w/ the stock elbow, have you ported the elbow yet? Also you ask about a 49 inlet bell, has the stocker been port matched and bell mouthed yet? Something else that comes to mind, is bell mouthing the TB. How well is the IC lining up with the turbo? I'd go back in that stock IC one more time and take a little more in the bend.

Your right before bracking into the 11's w/ stock equipment, I think you can do it, before throwing that TF on.
Good Luck! :)

holy cow....i just noticed that the date was 2003, i guess you guess were wondering why i dug up that thread, well i did i search for turbos or something like that and i ran across this one that i thought said Oct. 2004. ohh well, nothing wrong with old threads. BTW, i would like to hear if kevin ever hit his 11 sec pass??

No, there's nothing wrong with drudging up old threads - more good advice still comes out of it.

Jim

WOW, This is an old thread!!..lol. I haven't driven the car since this thread either so No I haven't hit 11's yet.
