in a previous post i had posted that my BLMs were pegged @ 150 at idle. well today, at the advice of razor, i went to the auto store and bought some DIY gasket material. made a vac block gasket w/o holes and the BLMs pegged 128 always. cut the holes and they're at 137, better but not there yet. im 99% certain its PCV related as all the hoses have clamps except the PCV hose. ill also be replacing the vac block hoses. will update on issue. on a side note: i floored it from a roll, VERY cold out, cars beeen sitting, battery needed to be charged 2 times, fully warmed up, early turn on point, highest pump speed, alky in tank, spray lite coming on, 9*-12* KR. i heard a pop/backfire but i think it was just the ignition screwing up, no signs of HG blowing. anyone wonder why i got so much knock after the car was running fine a few days agao and all its done is sit for like a week?

The dealer sells the vacuum block gasket. Also if you block it off and the BLM's are at 128..you still have ways to go. Blocked off the numbers should be lower 120's.

I've been using a product called Hylomar gasket dressing and coating the gaskets with it. Discoune/Napa sells it. Its like blue goop that doesnt harden. Actually used by Rolls Royce for engine assembly.

The plenum gaskets also get oily and dont seal..the dealer sells them as well. And yes to the gasket dressing if you wish.

It is normal for the BLM's to go up +8 to 10 when you hook up all the vacuum stuff to the TB.

AC Delco PCV in there? Your IAC count in park car idling are in the 20's? TPS at .40-.46 ?

Lastly in your translator give it fuel at idle..in other words put the switch so it gives +10 percent at idle.

Whats your FP set at line off in idle? You may try a little more FP..typically should be 40-45 line off max.

Lastly..check that EGR and the hoses around it with a vacuum pump, make sure theyre holding pressure.

As far as your knock/pop/backfire..dunno..

Good luck.

WHY DONT I JUST PAY YOU TO FIX IT FOR ME. AHAH BLM TERMINATOR. BTW BLM WENT BACK UP TO 150 AGAIN CRUISING. LETTING OFF AT SPEED GIVES 120-128 BLM. WTF. AHAHAH OH WELL ILL TRY WHAT YOU SAID.

Master BLM'r here

If you cant figure it out..bring money and the car.. i'll fix it for you.

Did I say $$$ :D

hehehe...

Maybe its the chip

hehehe

No problem..I know your a student ;)

cool. ill try fixing it until my head explodes then ill bring it. cant work very good with an exploded head.

you ever check to see if it's your intake manifold gasket? that was what was causing my really rich condition and pegged out blms at idle...turns out towards the back of the manifold there was a leak and one night i finally blew the gasket apart with 27 psi and it threw oil and water all over the motor...vacuum leak found! for almost 2 years i tried figuring out what caused my car to run so rich at idle...replaced every friggin part imaginable...all this time it was the intake manifold gasket:mad:

you know, i have oil all over the front of my motor and i saw some coolant there yesterday too. worthy of consideration id say. now i just gotta get unlazy so i can fix it.
