Ok.......I took the bolts out of the rear main and can't get the cap to come off.......I've beat it with a rubber mallet until I'm blue in the face:( ........I think it has been replaced before because the side "wells" have some beige colored RTV type sealant in them rather than any kind of rubber type gasket......course I don't know what they came with from the assembly plant.....

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on getting the cap off.........darn.....so close yet so far.......

thanks guys......

How 'bout a nine iron.

...whatever you do, don't drop it. Not that I know otherwise, 'cept that I read the tip last night on gnttype.org.

Good luck.

Take the 2 bolts and put them in the holes of the caps and just use them and wiggle the thing until it comes loose. Thats the easiest way. Dont use too much pressure just wiggle enough to move it.

If you haven't got it off yet, I use one of the bolts as leverage when beating on it. I stick the bolt into the cap about 1" then beat on the head of the bolt..
