hey everyone...looking at an 84 t-type wh1, and in helping with friend's 87 GN, am curious to see if the upgrades are generally as easy with the hot air cars, or if everything is more of a PITA, or doens't work as well...so any general info on the availability of upgrades for hot air cars as well as maybe some track times/hp #'s for hot air would be appreciated...
 
The IC cars start out a second faster. Hotairs have a few things going against them: Smaller turbo, smaller downpipe, more restrictive intake manifold and of course no intercooler. On my car I went 13.9 with just a Spearco Intercooler. At 105-106mph traps the stock turbo is maxed out vs 112-114 with the IC cars. Porting the intake is very easy to do yourself. Once you get the shortcomings out of the way they respond just like the later cars and run similar times.
