V6 timing cover

been in storage for close to 15yrs,
I believe it to be GM unit, (tell me how to tell)

in that outline of a circle with the + there is what looks to be the GM 8 - digit part #. i've seen 25522650 (image below) and 25522648. some covers would have a date in that circle with the minus sign.

it would help potential buyers to post a second pic of the inside to view how much wear from the cam button - if a new wear surface or plate has to be welded there.

It's a GM cover. If it's a later cover, the casting will be smooth and the bottom will be double drilled for both 20 and 14 bolt pans. If it's an early part, the casting will have burrs all over it, better final machining and only 3 bolt holes tapped on the bottom.
