I have my short block assembled now and I am trying to get some ideas on crankcase venting for my Stage 2 headed 4 barrel intake converted motor.

The valve covers I am using don't have any breathers. The intake has a 1/2" NPT fitting into the valley of the engine.

Question: Will the one fitting with a #10 line be enough if I plumb it to a vented bottle? or should I use an electric vacuum pump?

I'd rather avoid putting breathers in the valve covers. But I guess I need a oil fill somewhere.

All responses and opinions appreciated!

The fitting in the manifold can only be used with a stage off a dry sump pump, if you try to use it for a breather, it will puke oil everywhere in short order. The Edelbrock square type breathers work well and hace a square fill tube bolted on them as well, kind of hard to explain, I had them on mine when I ran a wet sump.

Thanks Bill,

That exactly the type feedback I was looking for.

I'll look into the Edelbrock breathers.
