Quick question - is there any benefit or problem with installing the stock lower spring retainers installed with upgraded springs? (Talking about the formed steel "jackets" around the bottom of each spring). They're the same diameter, and fit just fine. Only issue I could see is that I will lose just a little bit of height because of the "fingers" that are under the base of the spring. Should I just leave them off when I install the new springs? Thanks guys!

Possible problem, depending on the spring and cam lift- the damper could cause the spring to stack (or go solid) if the solid height is not adequate. Solid height is installed height minus valve lift.

The lift of the cam doesn't get anywhere close to the .630 max on these springs, so I think I will be alright. Other than the height issue, is there any benefit or problem with keeping them on? Thanks -

If your heads have not had the valve guides shorten you will have retain clearence promblems with that much lift.

Well, I won't be using a cam with .630 lift. The one I am using is at .496 lift. Still okay?
