just wonderin who carries valve springs for our cars besides Poston and ATR? Postons "High Performance" springs are only 39.00 for 12!! that dont sound like a high performance price. havent tried Jegs or Summit yet. I think this is what my problem is, a lazy spring on exhaust valve on #5 cylinder. so i seen the 39.00 springs a figured what the heck. BUT are they gonna be worth the time and effort to install?? I need the "best bang for the buck" tryin to stay under, say, 50-75 total. HINTS???

the valvesprings we need aren't anything special.i can't remember the comp cams # off the top of my head(979?)but you could search general tech and find it.

you could call or e-mail nick micale(www.arizonagn.com)i'm sure he stocks them.

I got this #
cca-980-12
1.230" OD
.876" ID
308lb spring rate, single spring
This guy was puttin these on an 87. would they be ok on my stock 84? Do i need new retainers with these or can i just reuse mines on them THANKS gotta go to work now!!

called Summit.
the 980's they got have a different ID.?
the one i found in the search said .876 ^
they said .821 but it has a damper in it so it looks like 2 springs.
i say, have them without damper? guy says Id use the dampers
I say ok i talk to you later.
Should I get these ones or not Jegs said the same. He said the damper ones are better but if they dont fit then what the heck?

help me out here!!

CC979 are a good replacement for stockers. They are advertised at about 80#s @ the 1.7" install height. CC980 are a step up and are advertised at about 91#s @ the 1.7" install height. This stuff can get pretty technical, but you shouldnt have much to worry about since your still stock.
I went with the CC980. Yes, they have internal dampers. Dont use the stock retainers.

that's right...and if you use the 979's you re-use the stock spring cups,if you run 980's you don't.

either will work fine,i'd probably use the 979s.
