When I first had my engine rebuilt I noticed a lot of valvetrain clacking when I start it cold. This is only after it sits for more than a day. The longer it sits the worse it is.

Now with 5,000 miles on the car I can hear the valvetrain clacking all the time. It's obviously not as loud as the cold startup noise, but I can still hear it. It's about as quiet as the clicking of the injectors but it's definitely louder than it was 5,000 miles ago and I can only assume it's going to get louder.

Is there anything to look for? Should I be really concerned about this?

Mine did the same thing. I replaced the timing chain with a double roller and it was fixed. On cold start up, sounded like the chain was hitting the timing cover.

What I would do is pull the valve covers and make sure the rocker stand bolts are tight.
