Oh and by the way the people at shoforum.com are still cool and about a third no longer own SHO'S but still check in for some good ole car talk .and just to clear one little tidbit up I am not now or never have been a ford guy .I bought the one's I have now in spite of the blue oval badge but lets face it a SHO is about as much ford as mercedes is a Chrysler .anyhow you alll should stop by our forum as you would be welcomed and also now that I am in the market for a rear wheel drive car I will be checking in here if that's ok:)

But back to my question monte carlo SS or grand national please give me the pluses and minuses as far as price of bang for buck go fast parts...thanks

hey sho guys... how come no one modifies the v8 powered SHO's? A co worker has one here.. Do they run better then the 6's??

the v8 has a flaw in the camshafts but after they are welded via v8sho.com they can be upgraded quite nicely with a supercharger kit or cam upgrades etc

ok cool. These are pretty uncommon and was wondering..

The cams aren't the only problems with the v8s. The v6 SHO engines are 100% yamaha while the v8 SHO engines are less than half yamaha and mostly Ford. Another BIG set back on the 8s are the auto trannys are crap and there's no way to convert the tranny to a 5 speed.

LOL! All Fords Are a Hunk O crap!

My mom has gone through 3 Tarus wagons. (STUPIDO as they would say in italian)

The money she has spent on all three of these cars she could have bought 1 good NON FORD.

She has had engine failure on the yamaha engine.
Multiple front end, brake problems on another.

Why do you insist on preaching to the buick guys? :o die thread die

hey steve... go Fvck your self.....

hahaha maybe now the mods will lock this thread cause i am bashing!

thats right Steve.... go fvck your self!

look at me i am bashing steve, lock it i broke the rules!

:D

Tore-ass

My bosses father had a Merc Sable and another employee has a daughter with a Tore-ass. Both lost at the trannies. My next door neighbor has a SHO sitting in the driveway for years. Yard ornaments by Ford.

What makes the V6 SHO fast is the Yamaha engine.......not ford parts.
In fact, the ford parts are why the detuned the engine when they got the prototype back from Yamaha (think they put a rev limiter on to save the accessories too).........that and that they didn't want a grocery getter that would whoop all over their flagship sport/muscle car the mustang GT.
Taurus/sable auto trannys..........junk, no question.

Don't get me wrong.........I do not like ford.........not a blue oval guy here
:D just give respect where due.

I was going to add in the connan o brian show, but my link doesnt work anymore. It was great

Ford never put a yamaha engine in a wagon. If your mom had a yamaha engine in a wagon then someone other that Ford put it in there and therefore would probably be why she had mechanical problems. There's only one thing that usually causes engine failure with a SHO and that is not maintaining the engine. Even then I've still seen SHO engines still running strong with no engine maintenance other than a regular oil change and still running at over 170k. Can't recall a GM engine that can last that long with no engine maintenance. I'm the moderator for the dfw-sho club and the average mileage on all the SHOs in my club is over 140k fact we have one SHO member that's getting ready to turn over 300k on his 91. So even if your mom had a SHO and it had engine failure it was due to little or no scheduled engine maintenance.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all.
