i want to convert my non power to power seat...let me know....

Just to inform you that the seat tracks are different depending on the years...The '86 and older have tracks with only one (1) motor mated to a plastic transmission and '87's have tracks with three (3) separate motors. Both tracks will bolt in the car, but parts are NOT interchangeable between the two models...
I did that conversion a few years ago on my own GN (on BOTH sides!) and to make a "factory appearing installation", take your time in gathering all the necessary parts ,the tracks (preferably the correct ones for the year of your car), all four (4) black plastic trim pieces, all four (4) small black plastic covers which hide the bolts in the floor, the trim piece on the side of the seat which houses the switches, the correct orange power wire that must go all the way under the dash to the power strip, etc...
And last, don't forget ...a little patience too!...:D

I have a few trim pieces available, but not all of them (I can send you pictures...)...Let me know if you need something!

Good luck with your conversion!

Claude.

Pete, the power wire runs from under the seat, towards the door, under the sill plate all the way up under the dash (obviously on the driver's side) but does not connect to the fuse block. Above the fuse block is a large white plastic terminal to which the power seat wire connects. But to connect properly, it's important to have the correct original orange wire (with black stripe, I think...) with the connector to plug right in the terminal.
Hope this helps...
As for parts, the only ones I have left are a few black plastic trim pieces. There are four different ones needed (two go between the seat and upper part of the tracks and two other screwed to the lower part of the tracks) , but I have only three of them (pictured below). The blue part in the lower left corner is already sold. Since they're used some have little cracks but are still useable, if you want them, I'd sell them all for $20. Let me know if interested...

thanks,

Claude.

You can get the plastic side trim that holds the switch from any Caddy Cimmaron. If you can't find your exact color just shoot it with some SEM dye.

Yep!...Cimmaron's had power seats on BOTH sides...but unfortunately, there aren't too many of them left!... I can't even remember when was the last time I saw one...:frown:
Still, good luck in finding what you need...

I just took new closer pics on the seat trim plastic pieces. Out of four, I'd say that two have large cracks in them around the bolt holes (but nowhere else) and the two other have some tiny "hairline" cracks. Finding some un-cracked ones is next to impossible as they're bolted (squeezed tight) between the seat and the upper part of the track and over time, they crack, but nothing shows once the seat is installed.
The first three pictures are to show where there are cracks...the last part pictured is perfect though, but screws into the bottom part of the track (left side).

Power seat conversion

I have a power track setup I bought off ebay. It's had some repairs to the metal track but works fine. I payed $75 plus shipping. It's yours for the same. Also check out my post in Junk Yard Crawl if you want to do one yourself.
