Around here the theft was so bad all the copper recycle places had to start taking picture id, social etc etc pretty extensive on the tyope of stuff being turned in and all sorts of info upon cash in.

I think KY is trying to take the title... Lots of drug issues in Eastern KY... Lots of copper theft and for a while they were crawling under cars in mall parking lots with a sawzall and cutting off the cats to sell for scrap...

Really not too bright since most of the High voltage lines are aluminum. Copper is too heavy.

If they're taking live lines sooner or later Darwin will catch up to them.

When I was living up in Palmdale (Northern LA County Home of the old LACR) I knew a guy that was sentenced to 6 years for stealing copper . Needless to say he was a tweaker kleptomaniac. To his credit, if you needed your house painted he'd get it done in 2 hours lol.

In Sarasota Florida they steal gn's and scrap them out to buy crack. They are to lazy to steal copper or power lines

I work for a power company in substation division and they break in and steal the grounds off equiptment and rolls of copper all the time. I just dont understand why people risk their lives to do this...........
