Believe it or not....

All of the orange couplers and all of the black intercooler pipes are all old spearco kit pieces. The car used to have a spearco front mount unit on it and I decided to try to drive through a minivan after it pulled out in front of me. About the only thing usable on the front of the car was the IC and it took the direct impact. If the IC can withstand a 30mph crash it is good enough to keep using in my opinion.

Kinda weird, the black pipe coming from the turbo going to the IC is an original pipe that went through the core support on the spearco kit. That was the first install. The second install left the pipe uncut and it went back behind the motor into the intake adapter then around the brake master cylinder and to the front and into the IC. Even weirder still is that the same pipe (still uncut) goes from the turbo over the driver side valve cover to the IC in the current setup. In all locations the pipe had all the perfect bends for the application.

You can see the destruction to the bumper and where the header panel bolts to the core support. The car basically looked like that pic after the wreck. The fenders and hood were still on the car after the wreck but were trashed. It took the whole header panel of the car off, bent the frame horns beyond repair etc, etc...

A long time later, and a lot of work put in and I still have 1 of 2000 1984 GNs.

Jerry,
I could have sworn you been in my garage:eek:. I have that same setup on my engine stand now. I bought a intake and pieces from 6 to go and have been laying out my engine combo. I bought a house earlier this year, so I have not had a chance to even look at my T-Type, let alone even THINK about Bowling Green:mad:. I had to put the T-Type back together stock to move it to the house. I really like the work on the bonnet and how it was radiused. That work is totally first class. Anytime you move the throttle body off the turbo to the tb, the idle improves 100% and so does the driveabilty. As usual, your attention to detail and worksmanship it top notch. Now go get some timeslips:D

I appreciate the comments...

My dad is basically the chief fabricator. He has access to most of the machines he needs to do the job right.

Turbo6x2 : I post on here just not normally on my own threads. I tend to read others threads and rack my brain trying to figure out others problems. So when inevitably my bad luck catches up with me and the exact same problem happens to my car I will know where to begin the troubleshooting process.

Was gonna go to bg and get some timeslips. Now I have to get off work on a friday / Saturday (and not have anything else to work on, and have the money to the take the car out).

Not in a rush to make the car fast. I have until October to tune it up.

Jerry,
If you are going to Bg, I might bring one of my cars and we can compare notes. I hadn't planned to go again, but maybe I may change my mind.
The hot air cars are scarce there. turbox2, a guy from BG and mine the last time I was there.

The GREAT thing about this setup is... if you decided to go back HA, you could do it in minutes. Even without the intercooler, the driveability is greatly improved. I currently have a 4.1, with ported heads, 204/214 cam, 86 intake and a TA54 turbo w/50lb injectors. This is a straight up test engine. I am going to test all theories of alky, NOS, and e85. I would like to find out what each is worth HP wise. I will not spray no more than 50/100hp NOS. Alky and e85 should control all the octane issues. May look into BIGSTUFF 3 to control the ECM functions. But as I said this is a rolling test bed...

Over the years I have followed many post and have came away with many ideas. The late BRUCE had many ideas the have helped me form my opinions. The mad scientist, Don Wang has also made me think about alky and NOS.

My dad his 85 designer there...

Last year we took his 85 designer series car. We didnt race it or show it, but just drove it to and from the track. The car has a brand new NOS crate motor in it that my dad bought from a guy in Oklahoma. Needless to say my dad pays attention to detail when he puts a motor together.

The garbage bag has the engine harness inside of it (not garbage).

Would love to meet up. I have no idea what it will run because the setup of the car has changed radically over the past 6 months. I have not had any time to do my homework on the fuel / timing part of the tune. So I some seat time to figure the setup out.

Question

Do you think your Dad would be interested in modifying a few upper bonnets? I have two I would like to get modified exactly like yours.

I'll ask... He did all the machining

He did all the machining on it, but another guy did the heliarc welding. I'll leave it like that so I don't get a wrist pop from the admins (Charlief1) for trying to peddle our wares.

Send me a pm.

Thanks,

Jerry jr

You know you and the family are gold with me Jerry. PM's are better in the long run for something as interesting as what you are doing. I do hope it works out. BTW, I'm looking at a TIG myself for the shop so maybe we can combine efforts to some degree.
