Did all 200-4r's use this spring and pin under the tv lever and bracket assembly?

If you remove the ball check in that location you can leave those out.

What is the benefit or effect of doing that?

It was put there as a safety in case the T.V. cable breaks. The ball will seat and set your T.V. pressure to around 90lbs. so you don't burn up the trans.

Thanks everyone. I did not know you could leave this out when removing the tv check ball. That would explain why I have not seen them in other transmissions I have opened.
