I was just trying to turn the boost down in my GN (something that hasn't been done in a while) and I'm unable to lengthen the rod. The pass-side part of the rod that's supposed to be adjustable is frozen up on the threads of the rod that's going into the puck. I put a pair of locking vice grips on the rod going into the puck, and tried to lengthen the whole thing by loosening the other half. Instead of unwinding, the whole rod assembly is turning.
Basically I need to UN stick this thing, and haven't been able to get enough grip on that tiny rod to keep the whole thing from spinning when I try to loosen the adjustable half. Have any of you had this problem? I WD-40d the heck out of it, but still no dice. Thanks a lot for your help!

PS I tried tightening it too, same story. The wastegate is now UN-adjustable.

PPS Is it bad for the wastegate to spin the whole rod assembly?(I'm assuming it's spinning the diaphragm inside as well). Thanks!!

Go to an auto parts store and buy a can of PB Blaster it works pretty well on frozen parts. Good luck!
