I was wondering if anyone has a permanent fix to keep the wastegate rod from falling off. It seems the little e-clip somehow came off in the 6 monthes I was in Korea and when I went to drive my car it wouldn't build any boost, popped the hood and sure enough the rod had fallen off the flapper. Put it back on and took the car for spin, man it felt strong hadn't lost a step at all after sitting there for 6 monthes.

Anywho, anyone have this happen before? Is there something better out that than those annoying e-clips? TIA

How about an alligator clip? Everybody uses 'em. Get a bunch for peanuts at Radio Shack or ?

If you get one of those alligator clips, and put a short length of braided steel leader on it, with a loop on the end, then you can put the loop over the adjusting rod, and the clip will hold the rod onto the little arm. And when you want to "disable" boost for any reason, you can take the clip off, and put it in a safe place. I guess you could unscrew the end of the rod, and put it in a safe place too, if you were really paranoid.

I use the clips similar to the ones that hold the throttle cable on, they fit perfectly. You can find them at NAPA and other auto parts stores, it's the same as the one they used to hold the throttle cable on the carb on 70s-80s GM cars/trucks.

alligator clips work but i use the same ones on mine
the cruise control uses these clips at the cable ends ,
, if you tie a wire through them and then tie it to the arm you wont ever loose one and makes it easier to pull them off when they are hot

if you want the hairpin or eclip type just go to home depot or sears hardware

Small hairpin clip seems to work the best for me...there's enough of the clip to pull it off with needle nose pliers...never had one pop off...very cheap too...I usually get about 5 or 6 of them from Ace Hardware...only time I need to replace one is when I lose it after taking it off...

Thanks guys, the alligator "roach" clip works great. I think when I put a THDP on it I am going to drill a tiny hole in the flapper and put a pin in there as a more permanent fix.

I use those clips that come with the coffee packages, there's a small hole in one of the handles already, so it's easy to attach a safety wire.
