Hey guys. I know I don't own a turbo buick, but you guys seem to really know your stuff when it comes to water injection. I'd like to use it on my cordoba, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much. I have a 340, with a 416 stroker kit, 7.5:1 compression, CNC ported edelbrock heads, a performer RPM intake converted to EFI, a ceramic ball bearing T72, bank-to-bank speed pro, and a ford powerstroke diesel intercooler (yah i know, but i ran out of cash after buying everything else, lol. it'll get replaced with something better a bit later). Think I would be able to run 20-24-ish pounds of boost on 93 octane with a good tune? Thanks for your help guys, and GN'S ROCK! :D

What are you able to run now on 93 octane?
If you can get 16-18# of boost then it is possible to get up to 21-24#. If you can only run 10-14# boost then it 21-24# isn't realist.

Use denatured not isop alchy or if your pump will handle methonal, use it.

I'm running 16 PSI now on 92 octane, without any detonation, so I think I should be good for 22-24 ish :)

I'm buying my friends new SMC kit and I was wondering if it would be possible to rig up a new switch pannel and alcohol/water source for it. I have a 4-gallon RCI fuel cell that I was thinking of mounting in my trunk, would there be a problem with doing that? And I've heard of people having some problems with corrosion from the mix, or are these just people blowing it out of proportion? And finally, what ratio of a mix works well? I've heard 50/50 is good, but i'm not sure.

16 PSI??? Amazing what a 7.5 CR will permit. Is that with no timing retard?

The SMC controller will work fine with a fuel cell. Most corrosion problems are associated with using methanol, which is REALLY corrosive.
There is nothing wrong with the PS intercooler, a lot of guys on here use them:cool:

The more alcohol you use, the easier it is to tune because there is less of a tendency for the engine to bog. But more alcohol = less knock suppression because water cools much better than alcohol. I use a 60/40 mix, denatured alcohol/distilled water. For you I would start with 100% denatured and about 20psi, and experiment from there.

No timing pulled :) Mind you, i've only ran it on a couple cool nights, pretty much as soon as it warmed up. It might be a different story in the summer. But by then i'll have the alky/water hooked up and a good tune on a dyno (hopefully)

Thanks! So more water = cooler IAT's but harder to tune? And more alcohol = warmer IAT's but easier to tune? With a really good tune on a dyno would using more water be better for me as it would let me run more boost?

In theory yes, but pure water might lower your EGT's too much killing power. An EGT Meter is really needed to get the optimal tune. They are pretty cheap, around $125
