I'd like to see his face when he lines up against an LC2 powered GN at a light and gets his ass handed to him.

That is a much better example. Is it faster?......no. Is it quicker?...... no. Is it lighter?......no. Does it have better driveability? ....no. Does it have better fuel mileage?......no. Can you give me an explanation of why you did this?....As David Spade says in his comercials, "I'm getting a no......":D

I would say the only thing missing from this swap is to completely strip every Buick and GN badge on that car and replace them with Monte Carlo SS badges.

Ripping the LEGENDARY heart out of one the most notorious muscle cars ever and replaving it with a LS1 - Yawn. :o

Hmmm..... I wonder what happened to the original motor?

Would be fun to pick it up, freshen it up a bit, and drop it into a Monte and then race him.

I thought the same thing about the whereabouts of that motor. Probably in the hands of the guy who talked him into doing the swap, "This 'ol V6 is no good......ah, yeah swap it out with a LS1, yeah, that's the ticket!"

oh boy:rolleyes:

For an encore he'll be riping an LS-6 out of a 70 Chevelle SS and dropping in an LS1.

Kevin

You'd better do it quick, otherwise there's gonna be a lynch mob at his house to polish this blotch on the gene pool off. There are certain things you don't do in life (such as sticking a fork in a toaster, while in the shower) and this qualifies. If he had an email up I bet he'd get enough races for the next 20 years though.

No need for US to send him hate mail. If he ever takes it to the track, he will send hate mail to himself while cracking off mid 13 second 1/4's.

It'll sound better :D

But to me, that'd be weird to hear it. Would remind me of cheesy movies, or the TV show "Hunter", where they'd dub v-8 sound effects over a 4 cyl car during chase scenes

Kind of like the "Full Throttle" show a few weeks ago on the GNs :D

wow.

you guys are all very very ignorant about the LS1.

Gas mileage will remain the same, put a 3500 stall and some bolt ons on it and he'll be good to go.

Thats not a stupid swap, just a different one.

Actually, you are wrong; most people on this board are pretty knowledgeable of the LS1 and do seem to like it - myself included. It's a great motor, but it is a HUGE waste of time/money to swap in a motor that will not increase the performance of the car and in the process ruin the GN's pedigree.

The proof in all of our opinions is simply this. If swapping our turbo motors for an LS1 was a beneficial swap: why haven't more people done it? I'll give you the answer......because it makes no sense. ;)

Anyway, I think the point is that it was a ridiculous thing to do to a GN when the stock engine is capable of putting out just as much power. Also, most would agree that a GN isn't much of a GN without the turbo 6. Hell, the whole car is littered with turbo 6 logos, so putting a V8 in the car feels really silly.

I wonder what it cost to do all of that? I bet he could have rebuilt the 6 and then some for much less money and no extra fabrication. It is a nice motor, very powerfull with the right mods but all of that for what? Why not just get a Monte SS and do that, makes more sense to me.

TType84...Yep, the LS1 is a dam good motor, definitely the best sb 350 GM has ever put out, its capable of some very good #s with no more than headers and a cam swap and a good squirt of NOS, and the bottom end can take it......
I own both an LS1 car and 2 LC2 powered cars....it would be stupid to swap either motor into either car.....now if it putting an LS1 in a Pinto or Chevette, that would be cool, putting an LC2 in either would be cool.....Putting an LC2 in a C5 or C6 Corvette would not be cool.
Putting the LS1 in a Monte would be cool too, I'd love to have had an LS1 in my old Monte SS...or maybe a regular Regal, but not a GN.

What I'm not getting is the whole reasoning behind not putting it into a Monte "He wanted the Grand National because it had a performance suspension where as the Monte Carlos do not." Huh? The GN is a better platform for this because of its suspension? Come on, just put a different suspension in the Monte and leave the GN alone.

i kinda like it. I would never do it myself, unless of corse it was turbo'd wan i was wanting 9's or faster. its definatly a shock to look under the hood and see "corvette" without the words "i eat" infront of it.

sure he threw a lot of money away but its something that none of our cars will ever be, 100% unique, there aren't any others like that out there. probably for a good reason.

if he would have straped a turbo on it then all would be good

one thing is for sure, the opinions of this project are unanimous and we are getting some good "mileage" out of it!!!!!!:D

That guy is retarded. He probably watched that show on the History Channel and figured that GN's are only capable of 14's modded. Personally the only thing I really love about my GN is the motor. Pulling it out just makes the car another POS regal in my opinion. He could have at least dropped in a T-56 instead of the 4L80E and redeemed himself a little.
