no, i'm right. oh, and btw, it was beneficial to him because it was easier. quotes i had to get my engine rebuilt... me doing the assembly.. i was already up to $3k. i can get a turnkey ls1 and tranny for like <$2k so i was even thinking about doing this myself, because it would have been cheaper and easier than rebuilding my engine, luckily i found a freshly rebuilt shortblock for $500 and its all good now.Originally posted by tracy
Actually, you are wrong; most people on this board are pretty knowledgeable of the LS1 and do seem to like it - myself included. It's a great motor, but it is a HUGE waste of time/money to swap in a motor that will not increase the performance of the car and in the process ruin the GN's pedigree.
The proof in all of our opinions is simply this. If swapping our turbo motors for an LS1 was a beneficial swap: why haven't more people done it? I'll give you the answer......because it makes no sense.![]()
BUT LETS REVIEW:
he has slightly better performance stock. he's got the same or better gas mileage, and he has NO HASSLES. find me a buick that runs right 100% of the time.. pretty difficult. now find an LS1 that has myriad problems.. PRETTY DIFFICULT.well he wanted performance and driveability...
now he has slightly better performance but will probably get worse gas mileage and more hassles from the non stock engine
show me one stock gn that would put down between 300 and 330rwhp. show me ONE.now he might run what a 13.5 or so in the 1/4... i would never do it but whatever makes his poor little soul happy
once again, its not getting worse gas mileage.. have any of you ever seen the kinda mileage an ls1 gets? its pretty impressive for a v8. not to mention its ALL ALUMINUM so its not gonna weigh that much more.I find it very curious and telling they didn't post ANY performance times after that moronic transplant. Perhaps it didn't improve it all? It will get worse mileage and weigh more now.
faster? yepThat is a much better example. Is it faster?......no. Is it quicker?...... no. Is it lighter?......no. Does it have better driveability? ....no. Does it have better fuel mileage?......no. Can you give me an explanation of why you did this?....As David Spade says in his comercials, "I'm getting a no......"
quicker? yep
lighter? no, but not heavier by much
better driveability? yep
better fuel mileage? probably, or about the same.
looks like i found a couple wrong statements there, bud.
now i'm not saying it was the best idea, but apparently it was HIS best option.
so, oh well. who gives a ****. atleast he didnt put a 350 in it. an LS1 about the best swap he couldve done.
