weird oil pressure?

is it a no no to install chain tensioner with double roller chain?? cus i know my engine builder did install one with mine!

Correct. Don't use a tensioner with a double roller. Get the T/A replacement chain if you feel the need to use a tensioner. I run the Cloyes double roller and have for the last 30k miles. No issues and no slop yet without a tensioner and I just checked it yesterday.

You trashed the tensioner and blocked the oil pump pickup. The pump needs more volume at rpm to produce more pressure and it cannot pull enough oil to do that so it starves the pump and pressure drops. IMHP. Good luck with it. Kudos on not driving it to death. Yes it is a big no-no to use the tensioner with a double chain
