Maybe if your stupid state would allow a track to built this would not happen.

I can't for the life of me figure one of the richest states in the union with land to boot can't get one built!

My old road got beat up pretty bad by semi trucks when the built a couple 1,000,000 sq foot warehouses near it. Was in the middle of NO WHERE too.

“It was a very dangerous situation,” Smith said. “There were all types of cars, including a flatbed trailer, which possibly carried a vehicle to the scene.”
LMAO! Possibly? What a dope. Build a fvcking drag strip in CT and this bull**** would be minimized.

Id be spraying that strip down with VHT every week.

It was getting sprayed with the garden pump sprayers usually every weekend. When it was cold out it would get heated up with the torches you see burning coolant off the track when someone spills. ;)

Never understood why states won't allow or build dragstrips:confused:.
Our local track is getting ready to close up. Land was bought by state for a new road. Guess it's back to street racing:rolleyes:.

Isn't the old Conn Dragway just sitting there being used every now an then by a magazine?? What a shame

I was there the last day .. fall of 1982,I was with my 66 chevelle 19 year old.good old days... still miss it to this DAY..

For the same reason we have no Casino in Southern CT.

It is the richest state in the union and with money comes power. Powerful people are not interested in Drag racing apparently, otherwise it would happen. Nor do they want the extra traffic.

Polictics rule everything and rich people put politicians in office.

I don't think so. In fact, I think it would increase if people could dial their cars in at the track to race them on the street.

Look at NY city and sorrounding areas in NJ. They have TWO race tracks and NJ and Jersey and NY have some of the fastest street raced cars around and has as many street races as anywhere else.

A race track will not solve anything. People street race because it is exciting. A track will not solve that issue. It sounds good in theory, build a race track and street racing will end but that's simply not true.

I didn't know you had a 66 Chevelle! I miss mine too! At least I can now visit it if I want as it is right in town after not seeing it for 15 years.

PS, did you get the gasket???

Well if it is close and the have street race oriented events then it will make a difference.... For instance at milan no et you can run anything you want as long as its reasonably safe and dosent leak anything...low 10s no rollbar no problem, they allow armdrop flag and they dont show your et , they even cut the timeslip in half...they let the crowd gather on the track behind the cars only and bet stupid amounts of $$ in the staging lanes...

It didnt completely stop street racing but it cut it down by a huge margin...

things quiet down when the police start having cars crushed, this and maybe an opening of a track would keep most people from attempting to race on the streets, that's my two pesos on this subject.

its not so much about the $$$$$,the dam DOT controls alot, couple of guys by me tryed to do a track in new milford ct, and noise:mad:

Couldn't a racer with some dough by his own chunk of land and take care of insurance? There is a guy who did that here, lack of population killed the track anyway, now it's rental only.

I think for the most part people just have no desire to have a race track near their house. I know I wouldn't! I get aggrivated when my neighbors dogs bark so listening to little ricer engines or open header cars that do nothing more then make more noise then power would make me want to move immediately!

It would be great if one was nearby but not at the expense of having to endure little ricer fart cans with tincan exhausts buzzing 7 days a week. Not in a million years!

Im willing to bet most feel the same way. Its not like a track can be 45 minutes from civilization. There are 3 million people in this state and is a mostly white collar state with very big houses in the wooded areas which means they are wealthy and have power.

There are no county governments here in Connecticut like u have have in most other states. Each town is its own entidy. Their own Police, fire, school system, government, ZONING, etc...

So, anywhere a racetrack would be built here would be in the woods and is most likely an afluent area that has no interest in disturbing their sleepy bedroom town.

So does that mean you will be putting in Mrs McMan (wwe) in office :p

What has she spent 14 million.. That would have opened up a nice strip called Conneticut NITRO speedway. What a marketing concept WWE & DRAG racing. Vince vs Otto LOL
