Finally purchased and installed a scanmaster. Began setting the TPS. No problem with getting idle set for .42 (key on engine off). Setting WOT a problem. Pedal to floor (mat removed) only getting 4.08 or so. Do I adjust the sensor again?
I tried this and adjusted to 4.6. Idle returned to 1.?? something.Reset to .42
First time for me. What am I missing?

It is quite a process. I hate getting it set up correctly.

So I am doing it correctly? Seems to me I will end up with the same values

Open the holes on the sensor so that you can pull the sensor further forward on the tb. You want it to come closer to the front of the motor. This will allow an increase in the sweep.

Just went back out and checked. Nice slow increase on pedal pressure and was able to get 4.5 after a "pop" sound. Will recheck in morning

a 'pop' sound?? Like out the intake and/or exhaust or a pop from the sensor itself? Not that it matter's neither one is good.

Don't worry too much about getting your WOT TPS numbers to some magic numeral. As long as your idle is good and you're going into PE mode, you're most likely fine.

Pop sound with engine off. Will check in the a.m.around throttle body, cable, etc.
Numbers were good after ,surprisingly

I have been using the O'Reilly auto parts BWD brand TPS for a few years without any problems and it has a lifetime warranty. Set at .42 ( key on engine off ) and wot 4.64 out of the box, no mods needed for it to work.

Pe mode?

Well then - problem solved.
I always love how a problem ends happily.

That "pop" sound definitely put my mind at ease!
Said no one :D

Throttle cable?
Beer can under the gas pedal?
But you would probably feel the spray...so not leaning in that direction.

Like a quack chiropractor - you go in with a hernia- he pops your back - and supposedly you are all better.

Pop like the tranny TV cable ratcheting probably why the WOT TPS reading was off.

I tend to agree. Did you/have you adjusted your TV cable recently?

Car hasn't been touched as far as tuning.began with TPS .Just received a scanmaster and installed yesterday. Car comes out once a week or less for a light cruise for the past several years.this morning I'm gonna take it for a spin and see if anything is off

Like Earl said. There is no magic number. As long as you get around 4.0 volts at WOT your good. LV8 (load) determines PE (power enrichment) which is typically 160. Your wasting your time trying to get the TPS higher.

Tps at or near "magic number" . Lol.Car ran fine this morning shifting and all. Did not run fine under W.O.T. more retard than I want to admit .lol . I have recently installed 38 pound injectors and matching TT chip (93 oct.). Hw kit 340 lp pump. My o2 numbers bounce ridiculously. I think on "recall" I read 690 and zero retard (but I saw 2 to 6 flash up). I think I read TT chips are open loop and should remain constant on O2 readings. Is that true. Will post some idle reading later. Had to pick up my toys and behave. House for sale and people coming for showing. :)

TT chips are open loop at idle unless otherwise requested. O2's are supposed to jump around while cruising.
