my old UPS guy was the greatest, he would ring the doorbell or knock to let me know my parts have arrived...

i never had a problem with the old ups guy, he would even hide my small parts up on the porch so nobody could see them...

well, this new a hole of a UPS guy has been told 2 times in the past to ring the friggin bell cause ive come outside and the parts have been sitting OVERNIGHT WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME

well it just happened again, ive been home for 3 hours and went outside to check on something, and there is 500.00 in parts laying outside next to my empty oil boxes and they werent there when i came home 3 HOURS AGO!

IM past being pissed, im PISTER, PISTER THAN HELL that the ups guy didnt ring the bell, and yes i did check the bell to see if it was working, and yes the door is still hard cause it KNOCKS FINE :D

other than hanging a sign outside the front garage of my house, what the heck can i do about it?

call ups and tell them the guy isnt ringing the bell still?
email ups and biatch about it?

wait till my parts get stolen and file more claims because they are leaving them outside?

the latest delivery i get is 6pm

They used to do that to my friend till he took the box in and said he never received it. Ups had to replace it and then don't forget that the delivery man says he put it there so it's his A$$ on the line. :D
He knocks on the door now. ;)

Depends on the area..

High crime area they will usually knock or ring bell.

Nice area they will drop & run back to truck.

Leave a note telling him to ring your bell or call the supervisor

Personnaly I would call them and tell them the parts haven't arrived, let them do the paperwork for stolen parts, then call them back in a week and tell them your neighbor picked them up and put them in their house so they wouldn't get stolen and you have them now. Should be enough time to get the guy in some serious hot water and at the same time, wouldn't be fraud or stealing.

ive told this guy 2 times in the past face to face about how i felt-

last time i had 1000.00 in parts sitting outside till i heard the mailman drop the mail in the box the next day-

my mailman is the greatest, he can identify the differences between a monte and a regal and the differences between a early firebird and camaro!

i think im going to call UPS and complain, or tell everyone who sends me a box to put RING THE BELL on the packages:rolleyes:

Call 800-PICKUPS, complain and indicate you would like a follow-up call. What 1radtta said is a good way to compain too.

My guy rings the bell. :)

Then again if you can't hear that truck start and stop in front of the house...... ;)

There must be something in the UPS drivers manual stating to never ring a customers doorbell. Fed Ex and Airborne drivers do it. I caught up with my UPS driver as he was getting back in his truck and he swore up and down he rang the bell but no one answered. BS! It works for everyone else. I've had an overnight letter containing a large check stuck under my doormat for days before I found it.

I work for UPS. Not a driver, though. I would contact the number mentioned above. Believe me, they will work with you. My driver usually hides things too. I live in a nice neighborhood too. He may not ring the door because it might be during work hours and figures no one is home. He will work with you, especially if you have several deliverys and not just one every few months. Give them a call.:D

BTW, Race the truck Dale!!!!!!!!

SuperSix- thanks for the number, im going to call and complain about the neglegence on my delivery guys part

salvageV6- its a gasser, if it was a diesel, im sure i could hear it 4 blocks away:)

Jack Evers im gonna buy a oversized doorbell just for the UPS guy;)

TIMS87GN- usually someone is here 24 hours a day, and i get alot of packages a week-

thanks for the tips guys, im gonna call them up and see what they can do on their end-

i still think the idea of a sticker on the boxes showing ring the bell is a good idea :)

At this point, the truck is probably faster. He just can't seem to get things going this year.

On this topic, I would imagine the driver's would want to co-operate with you. That can put the ball in their court easily for negligence. They don't want that. It's the same as if you take your car to a garage to have it worked on. They have to take a reasonable amount of care to make sure it doesn't get stolen. So, they can't just leave your car sitting on the lot with the windows down, doors unlocked and keys in it when they're done. Same with a package.. they have to take reasonable steps to secure your property. Let 'em know..

Is a signature upon delivery optional with UPS? I'm pretty sure I always sign for deliveries, if no one was home then a note was left letting me know they made an attempt.

Get a DOG that barks at the drop of a pin!

My UPS guy rings the bell and runs for that reason. He always rings it, but he doesn't stick around for me to answer. My dog is like a cat in a lot of ways - she stalks her victims. She hears the truck and gets real low to the ground just out of sight. I have an all-glass storm door. When he rings the bell she pounces at the glass like a crazed tiger or something. The first couple of times I think the guy had to clean his pants out - he was visibly shaken, then pissed. I'm not sure why she does this since she's really very docile otherwise. I'm reasonably sure she wouldn't attack him, but I'm glad the glass is there.

Call UPS - they'll work with you. I've had good luck with them.

My UPS guy never leaves the damn info notice on the door
99% of the time I find none at all or I find it down the block on someone else's lawn (like the one for my Centennial GNX I found the info notice on my neighbors lawn) I even had one experience where I called Summit because I hadnt recieved the parts after 2 weeks - turned out they were sitting at UPS (no info notice was delivered)

I work for UPS, and was a driver helper during the Christmas season. Most times it is up to the driver to decide whether or not to leave the package. It has to be a nice area and safe and secure. Policy states the the packages must be hidden out of sight and out of the weather. Info notices are left if noone is home. The majority of the time, the driver rings the bell, leaves the package and leaves. After three delivery attempts, the package is returned to the sender. If the package gets lost or stolen, the driver's a$$ is on the line. HTH.

Scott if you need an engine I'll give you a non turbo (n/a) v6 for free if you want it runs perfectly only thing is I am up in NY

PS I'm still pissed about the info notice thing doesnt seem UPS cares I call them and bitch everytime it happens and it continues

If all else fails, and you're worried about your parts being left unattended, have them delivered to your work.

When I order bulky/expensive parts, I often have them delivered this way, and I've never had a problem.

Sucks for me that they dont want us getting packages delivered at work (I work across from the WTC site) thats the one thing I miss about my last job I had stuff in and out of that place like it was the freaking post office - lol
