What did I break??? Trans

I was heading to Norwalk at 6am and decided to get on the gas and between the 2-3 shift something broke and I have no gears but Park.Brought it home and puuled the trans. And its seems to be somethng internal hahaha. I spin th TC and nothing. Pulled the TC off and spun the tail shaft in all the gears and it dont move at the TC, sooo the next step is to find out what broke and see if I can fix it or send it to PTS with a big shipping charge or maybe a MI based trans shop. I had it rebiult about 4 years ago and it always had a 2-3 flare and thats where it broke at. It also has the PTS 12" convertor I just put in this spring , I thought that may have broke at first but I dont know transmissions. Thaks for any help.

With your symptoms, it could be any one of these failures:

• forward clutch shaft broke
• turbine spline broke out of converter
• input shaft broke
• pump broke

Now that the unit is pulled, the only option is to get it to someone who can help.

HMMMM you sound as if I should have left her in to diagnose my problem. I guess I figured the way it felt when it went I could see it when it came out but no luck. At first I thought it was the TC that I just got this spring from PTS but Ive never heard if one of their 12" 2800 stall convertors breaking. Is there a way to rule out the convertor? I plan on callin Bruce tomorrow and see what I should do. Thougth about taking it back to the same shop that did it a few years ago cause freight to California and back is a little expensive..

Don't worry about it.

If it was so bad that it would do nothing, it probably will need to be totally gone through.

Try giving Vince Janis in Ohio a call. He is a great guy and uses our internal hard parts. If I was a betting man, I would go for the broken pump scenario, but you never know until you open her up.

Sound like you broke the drum. Get billet! Don't go the hardened route!

Talked to Mark at PTS thanks for all your help . Then I called Vince Janis as Mark requested and talked to him so it sounds like Im a sendin the ol tranny to Ohio for the Bullet proof strip version both guys were great to talk to thanks for all your help.
