I got a turbo and it came with a .85 housing instead of a .63 housing. It is going on a stock shortblock with ported stock heads and a 3200 stall. Would the .85 spool ok? I am working on getting a .63 housing. But I was wondering if the .85 woiuld work.

TIA

sweet, the .85 will be slow to spool.the .63 is much faster to spool and will not choke off the 62/65.

I ran a 6265 w/ the dbb. Car had ported heads with a stock cam. 3200 stall.
Spooled like crazy with the 85 pte. That 62 does not need to much stall in the dbb set up.
I did use a non lock up converter though. Still was a nice piece. But my old 63 still would out perform it at the track. Was one mph faster at the traps. Same et.
Obviously the 6265dbb would outspool the old 63 on the street.

Good to hear. The .85 does not seem that much bigger. But ideally I would rather have the .63. I want faster spoolup more than anything. I am fine with the power level. I was just curious if the .85 would spool significantly slower than the .63

Sell the .85 and PTE will sell you a .63. I think its around 250 bucks. 6 bolts and your right where you want to be.

My buddy said he can get me a .63 for free  I was just debating about trying the .85 or not.

From seeing Dyno charts of Imports that swap from the .63 to .82 it's clear we'd need at least 7000rpm plus to see the true advantage the bigger housing will offer. Otherwise what you lose on the low and mid doesn't seem to get made up for on the top for our platform IMO. I think Ottos dyno thread showed this too to back that up.

I read the same. No reason for me to need a .85. But I got it by mistake. I wanted the .63. I have a .63 coming anyway. I just wanted some input on what a .85 would be like if I used it.
