I'm sure through all the years this website has graced the internet, this topic has been discussed numerous times, but I'd like to hear some new stories.

My own first experience was in the late 80's, I was a typical snot nosed 5 or 6year old and my dad was always into big blocks, whether it be his Camaro or his Blazer mud truck. Well one night at a typical cruise/hangout type of deal, a guy came up claiming to spank anyone w/ his little V6 Regal. Of course my dad would have none of this, knowing by his better judgement that there is no way a V6 could take a big block, albeit a mild, pretty much stock big block. Well long story short, the GN DIDN'T spank him like promised, but hung right there w/ him, and that was a feat in itself. Well needless to say, it was less than 2 weeks later that dad had himself one of these cars, an 85 T-type. He got it running 13's, which I guess is respectable for the time and lack of aftermarket parts. I still remember him bringing it to someone, who was supposed to "know" these cars, and the guy crushed the FPR in a vise, to raise the pressure. Lets say that made for an "interesting" ride home. Anyway, he sold the car to finance a move to FL, eventually bought another, an 86 GN, that ran 9's throughout my high school years. But I was hooked from that first day I rode in his 85...I actually used to scream "hit the turbo" not even knowing it had a turbo or what it is. I bought one of my own, fresh out of high school, had it less than 3 months, and had to sell due to earlier than expected start to a family. I've never realized I could miss a car so much. I'm currently building 2 BBC regals, and neither satisfies my urge for the little V6. I guess I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and get another...what do you guys think?:D

I was maybe 8-9 years old, and I saw an 87 GN at a stop light. T-tops were off, it was lowered quite a bit. It took off, and all I could was the turbo spooling up; pure badass. My dad called it the "business mans muscle car". Had my mind set on one after that.

1996 just got seperated from 1st wife....always heard stories about these cars,,,worked for an Auto Body Supply store...had a used car dealer that showed up in an 87 with 64k that he was selling on consignment....was asking $6500...I maxed out my CC for cash advances...and bought it that day....I took it for a ride first and when it broke the tires loose...I drove it back and said I NEED it.....12 years later and 2 rebuilds...I stilllove it....

Back in 1987 I owned a 20th anniversy mustang gt. I thought the car was pretty quick. Well I caught a stoplight next to a GN with some old guy driving. I revved and he just glanced at me. The light turned and we were off. 1st gear even, 2nd gear and he started to pull, 3rd gear and he was pulling hard as I was trying to push the gas pedal through the floor. It was ugly. Well twenty years later and now I'm the old guy in the GN. :D

I had a 20th Anni Mustang as well, one if the 4 cyl turbo cars 5 speed. DOG:eek:

Traded it for a 87 GT (new body style) and with less than 5k on the clock got my ass handed to me by an 86 GN.

Sold the GT and havent looked back since:cool:

I had a monte SS with a built 350 back in 91-92. Got beat by a gold T-Type while I was racing a 71 Chevelle (the T was behind us, passed us and walked away) That is all

LMAO, I UNDERSTAND:D 5.0, 4 cyl turbo it didnt matter. But the white paint job and maroon stripes were cool.

GT350 Baby LOL

It was 1988 in Houston, TX. I was going to my Junior prom. A friend got to take his dads 87 GN to the prom, and I was taking a 86 RX7. We're on the 610 loop and roll up along side each other. I drop three gears and wind that little rotary engine out, and power shift it at 7000 RPM as he's running away from me.

I've done a lot of drag racing and raced some pretty quick cars and have never...ever...seen a car walk away so quickly.

From that day on...I knew that somday I'll have one. That someday will be here very soon.

Back in '85, my friend Everette got a new GN for graduation. His was the 1st GN I had ever seen and thought it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. Never saw an 84 around town or at the dealer. Always loved the Regals but the all black in person got me wanting one. Took me until 97 to get my first and now after 6, I still want another but I am building my 73 Vega GT with a hotair setup instead.

passed on interstate

in 87 i had a daytona turbo . me and some friends went to knoxville to the movies , we had the daytona pegged .i look back in rear view on my ass a gn in reverse letters on the windshield it said SLOW TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT .so i got over he passed me like i was sitting still ! I said i have to have one of those .and the love affair began!!!!!

In 1988 my friend bought a 87 GN. I had a 79 T/A with a mildly built 403 that ran pretty consistant very low 14's(hey, back then that was a quick car, lol) but anyways my friend let me drive his 87 GN and my brother-in-law was driving my T/A. I spanked my T/A pretty bad with that BONE STOCK GN and well........the rest is history. Bought my first one in 92 and haven't looked back. It was pretty funny(and weird) racing MY car with my friends GN and beating it!

I've loved these cars since H-S. Stopped in here one day to check things out and 2 months later had bought my GN. Only took 20 years! ;)

iwas in the navy in florida and saw one drive by and knew i had to have one. i went to the buick dealership there and they had a new 87 on the lot, no power anything on it, no t tops 19,000 so i was trying to get financing from my bank back in ohio together and in the meantime someone else bought it. there was another in the town i was in so next time i saw it i followed thr guy home and talked him into selling it,jeff

I was a mustang guy all the way my brother and my friends were all ford guys, until; 1 day in 19887 i was at a girls house and this black buick comes by, and looks at my mustang, ( while in his car) i said looks good but no speed huh? let me tell you that we wemt to the corner and the guy ran doughnuts around me in the street:eek: , he got such a jump on me, i was mad cause i had trouble shifting the dam mustang, i was saying lucky you know how to shift better than me, but when i saw that he spanked me with an automatic, i was hooked. i got my first 87 turbo-t back in 92 and it was a blessing, in 92 hurricane andrew hit south florida really bad, no power for weeks, almost a month, but me the wife and my 3yr old son would sleep in the buick with the ac on all night, it was pretty much stock ( pitbull chip and a K&N ) so she did'nt burn that much gas.

In 1986 two factory machines impressed me...

Yamaha Vmax

Buick Grand National

I drooled over both for years. I still contemplate getting a Vmax, but even though I am 33 I know myself well enough to know I couldn't stay off the throttle enough so I'll either buy a Harley or a Suzuki M109R.
