There have been quite a few issues with it and now just to see it you must be logged in just to see it. This way people that are not supporting vendors can't see what someone is selling or looking for and PM them with a part and price.;)

what about a seperate registration for the marketplace? (as well as being logged in)

just brainstorming here :)

You'd need to get Shane and Jay in on this. I always thought a minimum amount of posts should be required as well. There was the option of a third party holding funds until parts were received and approved but that fell through.

Supporting VENDOR...not member. Members can see it...if logged in. This is to stop the parts vendors, who don't pay, from sending PM's to guys and selling parts "out the back door". I also like our old feedback system. I'm so damn sick and tired of carrying items to the post office to get shipping quotes and them never hearing back from the supposed buyer. I really want to meet up with some of these dirtbags at an event...and embarrass the shit out of them.

LOL
I have been buying so much crap lately and completely forgot about you. The other day the brown truck shows up drops off a box and i am like OHH ship i forgot about this.
anyway replying to your PM.

The reason its like that is this.

I have started removing people's access to the section if they cant deliver parts, etc in a timely manner. I dont have time to deal with "So and so ripped me off" PMs that I get on almost a daily basis. So the easiest solution is to weed out the bad sellers. By removing their rights to view the section, they effectively cant buy or sell.

Now if guests could see the section, that would sort of defeat the purpose. You could look at the section, see a part you wanted or someone else wanted, log in and PM them and make a deal and then Im getting another PM about a bad seller.

Its a small price to pay to add a least a small semblance of accountability for transactions. You screw someone over, you lose access..... completely.

I also can monitor for people with more than 1 user account so people cant really skirt around the rules that way. Ill just ban both accounts and with the ban system we have in place here, you'd be hard pressed to get back in.

You run a great board Jay. If they want to rip people off...they can go join TurboYugos!!!

You run a tight ship Jay!! Personally, I think it's GREAT!!!! Thank You!!!

I dont really see an issue, I always login when i come here anyway.

I do like the idea of a feedback system. That would be nice.

I do as well but the only feedback system for this forum software will not run on the version of PHP we have here. In fact, I installed it and it broke the board so bad I couldnt even uninstall it. I just had to disable it. Its still installed to this day. If I flip it back on, it breaks everything.

The other nice thing is this keeps scammers from joining the board because they don't think we have a sale section.;) How many have been ripped off by 1 post wonders?

I think this is a great idea. I have many nice parts that I would love to sell or trade and after reading some of he feedback crap I just keep them. Thought I would take them to Noble so a buyer could see the product in person and pay up. Hopefully this will make things a little less difficult for buyers and sellers. Maybe a parts for trade section?

why do people whine to the board when someone rips them off? unless they are a supporting vendor or one of the owners of the board, the board has nothing to do with it.

of course my perspective might be a little skewed because i would never buy something that i can't hold in my hands and look at in person unless it was from a big name place with a good reputation. i'll order a lot of stuff from Summit or Jeg's, but i aint ordering a damn thing from some random dude that posts in the classified section of any internet bulletin board..

Then I would have to say you are missing out on some good deals on used stuff. Someone with three posts and all in the for sale section, that ain't the seller you want. But someone with 300 post and they are in tech and the lounge. I'd give it a shot if the deal was right. Have I lost money over the years? Sure but the deals have far out weighed the losses on hard to find, or low priced stuff.

It's a crap shoot no matter the seller. EBay has its shiesters too. Where there is money to be hustled, the hustelers want to ply their craft. Just have to be wary.

Then your really missing out. Most guys are very good but you have to have great communication with them.
This is where I got a killer pair of full race ported GN1's, brand new, for $1350 and several other killer deals.
Most of these parts can't be ordered at Summit or Jegs.

I can understand this, inconvieniant..... yes... but kinda the nature of the beast with essentially mail order used parts.

shipping can make or break somebodys budget... particularly since most of these deals go down very east or west coast... makes it hard for some of us out in the sticks where a package can add a substancial amount of cost.

I kinda see the trips back and forth a cost of selling to a niche market where no other places can move parts of this nature as effectivly.

If you own a tape measure and a scale, you don't have to leave your house for a shipping quote
