What is a puppet account?

I posted my car for sale in the non-buick section last night... this morning when I tried to reply to a message that was left I received the following message:

You have been banned for the following reason:
Puppet Account

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

I definitely didn't mean to rub anyone the wrong way... can someone explain what I might have done wrong?

Forgot to mention, I made the new name because I haven't been on the forum since Oct 2007 and I didn't want to give the impression (although my lack of posts at the moment would have said otherwise) that I'm a two year vet of the board, when I really only stopped by to admire the GN's.

Why do you need two accounts?

i would have preferred to close this account if anything (for uniformity reasons, i use my other name on almost every forum), and that's in addition to the reason listed above... no biggie, just didn't want to repeat the same violation by not knowing what i did in the first place.
