While out cruising yesterday I pulled up along side a cool looking Mustang.

It was dark blue, ground effects, huge tires, rear wing/spoiler, hood scoop/effects, and dual pipes exiting in the middle of the lower bumper/ground effects.

Had SALEEN on the back bumper in raised chrome letters.

Sounded nice but he would not really get into it. I rolled up along side him and said "nice car" and he gave me the thumbs up but had both hands on the wheel like he thought it might get away from him.

So how does that car compare to the regular GT Mustangs?

thanks for the link :-)

If looks tell what it was........It was a Blue SR.

Looked just like that from the ass end. And no....I did not see the ass end during a race...it was a one-lane city street and he was in front of me :-)

Steve Saleen started building modified Mustangs in '84 (three cars). They are somewhat unique in that they are sold through authorized Ford dealerships with a full warranty. They started out primarily as a suspension / ground effects package, as Saleen wasn't a large enough manufacturer to legally make any engine changes. Now, it's more of a how fast you want to go - how much you want to spend sort of thing. When I bought my '86 new, I thought I had the baddest wheels on the street...had I only known about Turbo Buicks then...:D

Yeah, and to think I gave 15K for mine off the lot in '86. Of course at that time a new GT could be purchased for around 10K.

My buddies dad has a 2000 S351 (supercharged 351 liquid intercooled) very fast, and very nice, not shure how much money it cost though.

The SR on Saleen's site lists for $175,000!?!? :o :o Nice car, but you'd have to be doing some serious drugs to spend $175,000 for a Mustang!
