I have a digital soft touch climate control in my T-type. I have yanked out my AC/heater box for the extra room under the engine compartment. I have a plate in its place and still use the stock cooling lines on the motor to the heater core with a smaller heater core and fan assembly from a Pathfinder that sits right behind the glovebox. Right now I have it run to a 2 way switch for high and low speeds. What I want to do is convert my digital climate control to the manual one and use that for my heater controls instead of my 2 way switch. So whats involved in changing one for the other?

I have had a few cars with climate control and every single one of them work flawlessly because I waste a lot of my time keeping them up and running and here is what I can tell you. I assume you want to keep just the heater core set up you have now? Best thing to do is go to a salvage yard(u-pull-its are the best for this type of experimenting) and find just any old Regal(84-87) and remove the dash panel, just take the whole thing out, I know it takes a hour or two but you have to see all the way up there. If you are familiar with your CC set up than you can see what cables and wire harnesses you will need to convert over. The CC has some extra doors in the air circulation module and I am not sure if you need to take them out or can leave it in so you might even want to consider grabbing the entire firewall module and redoing yours. What ever you have to do its not going to be easy but it can be done. I can tell you I did try to do this once and gave up because it was easier to repair than to uprade it.

What I have works and works well. The unit is the size of the glovebox and is already routed back into my factory air duct. Its not my daily driver, more like my weekend warrior. What I have here I am very pleased with. I just want to make it work with the factory manual slider climate control instead of rewiring my existing digital climate control. The manual slider one is all about vaccum to open and close vents which shouldn't be difficult and a power source for the blower fan. The system gives great heat and that why I want the manual slider climate control so I can adjust the heat from hot to warm because there is no adjustment right now aside from the high and low speed switch for the fan. So looking for another heater unit is not an option for me. I can more then live with what I got, but I just want everything to work with the factory system. The worse is already done. Swaping out climate control units and running vaccum lines is all thats left. Thats why I want to know whats involved in the swap. Because either way I will get this to work for sure, this I do know. I have just yet to get behind there and see whats going on.
