I don't see what the big deal with Mustangs are, period. They come a dime a dozen. Hell in my town there is literallty one for sale at every dealership. Becuz theyre popular or becuz no one wants them?

The fox body stang... our state troopers had them years ago. I guess they are ok. I suppose. But all Camaro & Mustang owners get lost in the crowd to me.

To impress me with a Mustang... blow it up. I'd pay to see that.

With my bolt-on clad GN I ate them up on highways or at lights... in reverse... starting the motor.. opening the doors.. the Regal is just superior in every way. On the highways you think they're pulling up to run you, hoping just one of them grew some nuts... but usually its to give a look and pout. How sad.. but thanks lil guys. Maybe someday you'll attempt to be different and get a old school TR.

WHACK!

Mustangs are bad ass. What they are doing in Pro 5.0 in amazing. I love the looks, sound and torque these cars produce. A fast car is a fast car regardless what make it is. The Mustang Vs Buick shootout isn't even competitive. Naturally aspirated they are running in the 7's with 400cubic inch motors. I can definately appreciate the success these cars have gathered. My brother has 2 Stangs. A 97 SVT cobra with a Vortech S trim that runs mid 11's on a completely stock motor at 124mph, and a 89 coupe that runs low 9's high 8's with a J trim Mondo on a 351W.

The one big reason for buying a fox body.Anyone can build it right out of a jegs catalog and not have to look much further. Imagine if jegs had a section for grand nationals.Relax vendors it will never happen:biggrin: Remember when summit sold nos kits for gn's.I remember when i bought my buick.I was out test driving cars with my dad.I test drove a 90 lx notch back gun metal gray. Then i drove my buick. MY dad and i could not believe how fast the car was.I pulled back in dealer and popped hood when i saw the engine i rested my arm right on fan of alternator and yes it was running. That was the first blood the car saw of mine and not the last. I love my buick but if i could find a clean notch back that color I would buy it.Dont get me wrong the buick would stay:biggrin:I dont understand why people hate other makes of cars?jealous? scared? worried about losing a race?I know three friends that had mustangs and hated buicks and now they own both:confused:

Well having owned just a few stangs (84' T top with a TRUE 69' Boss 302, 87' Noch Vortech S trim, 87' Hatch Vortech T trim & old Compucar nitrous, 89' Ex-DPS chase car flyweight 2755lbs 351 windsor & NOS, 93' GT vetr trip black auto Vortech T trim) and now the Gn I will tell you. IF you like bangin gears there ain't none better. I always liked the fact that if I hurt the car parts were cheap and plentiful. I think anyone that has ever driven one HARD would agree that dollar for dollar they are one of the most fun cars to have around. NOW that being said I ALWAYS without exception HATED lining up with a turbo buick at the track or on the street but I (like may of you) am a car guy, not just a die hard Buick. I love having my 86' and will never part with it but I can give credit where it is due. Merry Christmas, Jon Hanson

As a 30 year owner of Mustangs, I can tell you, at least the people that I know have always respected the Turbo Buick. It was/is the ultimate sleeper.

Too many of the youngsters today have no clue what they are and what they are capable of. The worst are the punk 17-18 year old Mustang owners who think the new 3V is the snitz.

Did I hear Saleen? Nothing sweeter than a Fox Saleen . . .

I always like fast cars period. However, my car of choice always been a Buick or Oldsmobile (or any GM for that matter). The main thing is that we have knuckleheads talking crap instead of embracing american muscle cars. Even though I own a Porsche 944, I have always been atracted to domestic cars more than imports. Another thing is that Ford always managed to have these Mustangs ready to go and with little tunning these cars can fly. what impressed me the most was when they went from the 5.0L engine to the 4.6L and managed to continue to perfom well. Anyhow, the main thing is that I like Buicks better than Ford anyday.

I'm not gonna lie...I've always liked the fox Mustang LX (hatch or coupe). I agree the newer stangs are "me too" cars but everytime I see a clean LX 5.0 (which is hard to come by these days) I can't help but stare. I had an IROC back in the day but I gotta admit that Ford did it right in the 80s during the pony car wars, and hence the huge aftermarket following. Compared to the TPI IROCs it was cheap and easy to modify one, not to mention how well they responded to bolt ons. I would love to have a turbo'd LX stang if I didn't get a GN. Yes, some stang owners are douchebags, but so are some Vette, F body, and TR guys.;)

I helped my brother set up his 89 coupe. After years of putting this setup together(tons of customizing) it is 99% complete. We put a wideband on the car and took it up in the sticks for some testing. I tunned the DFI in this car, and everytime he stabs the throttle my heart starts racing. It felt like my Dad's Twin Turbo GN when Precsion built it in the mid 90's. Very explosive, very responsive and very aggressive. It is a amazing feeling finally seeing it to completion. Last thing left is a Alky kit so we can give her on the street without race fuel.

We grew up around these cars. Our close friends have some serious Stangs.

Come on, whats not to like here!!!

Yes for me it was teh people that owned them that did it for me. I'll let it out and tell everyone why. Hold on, need to get a cookie:biggrin:   . Anyway, I had an 86 z28 tpi back in high school. It wasn't well kept and had a butload of miles on it plus whatever else was wrong at the time. I got crap from every rich kid that had daddy buy them a fox fi 5.0. Especially 2 of them which will remain nameless. They were both low mileage, very clean cars. Finally I agreed to race them, fun for me and to make them shut up. 1 was a stick, other auto. They both beat me. Wasn't mad about that I was mad because they laughed at me and told me my car was junk, slow, etc. then told everybody about it. I told them both and everyone else my car is much heavier(plus had ttops), has 150k plus miles on it, tranny is slipping, had a passenger, and stereo equpment, plus bald tires which spun to oblivion and wouldn't hook up like their cars did which probably had new bfgs or something of the like. Pretty unfair. My car was completely stock on top of it, theirs I know at least had exhaust and one was rumored to have a chip, so really, what was so great about their victories? The 5.0 efi motor had more upper horse and torque and had a faster processing computer from what I remember. The TPI was great but the intake chokes the hell out of it all. Ok for a 305 to get that 350 feel but the tpi has no business being on a 350 unless it has an accell setup on it. THere's my story.

yeah i had a 87 Cutlass Supreme with a 307 and a 2 barrel carb on the 4 barrel intake talk about slow never got a new carb for it then smashed it. But now i dont think anybody even has a car that can contend with my tr used to think that my friends 86 iroc was a beast with the 305 tpi

That says it all right there.

I think the Buick/Mustang thing should be used during some friendly competition at the strip, but other than that it seems pretty childish. Sure, a Mustang is a popular car for any 18 year old kid who wants to look like a bada$$, but if that same kid decided to buy a Honda instead then we'd just make fun of him for not buying Domestic.

Like someone else already hinted at in this thread, maybe WE'RE the ones who are scared since we're always making the negative comments about the Stangs. Much like the schoolyard bully who only picks on other kids because he has a bigger problem with himself... seems like some of the TR guys like to pick on Mustangs daily to feed their turbo-ego.

I'm not a fan of Ford products and I earn the right to say that as I have one as a daily driver, but a Mustang in the hands of a good owner is nothing to sneeze at.

I personally wouldn't have any big-bad-Buick attitude if I pulled up next to this thing....

Got one of each and I love them both. The gn is everything the 5.0 isn't and vice-versa. By the way, when I got into street racing, the only guys who were cool and showed any respect for the gn were the Mustang guys. It sure as hell wasn't the Chevy/GM crowd.

I'm with you on this one.

You are absolutely correct! Most of the guys that stop me and give compliments to my T-type are the mustang and import owners.

I have to say, If I diddn't own my GN and wanted to go out and buy a "toy" car a late 80s early 90s musting would be very near the top of my list. They're like the Lego car of the real world. Cheap to buy, Easy to work on, Cheap to build, Tons of new and used parts available everywhere you look.

Maybe it's just because I was raised on Ford products. My father still has his first car, a 67 Mustang GT with a Tunnel-port 427 Side oiler and top-loader 4-speed.
