There's a Rolls Royce that has a vacuum system for porta johns listed on the site also....guess it's better than the standard Camarovettchallengervellstangs that need to be museum pieces instead of muscle cars.

People are brain washed by Barrett Jackson auctions and think if they bought it there it must be quality:rolleyes:

Grand Wagoneers have a cult following. I saw some celeb on a people profile show bragging about his the other day, but I forgot who it was.

I had an '89 with woodgrain delete, shift on the fly AWD and Positraction Dana 44. They actually drive and handle pretty good for a 45 year old chassis (better than the Yukons I've owned).

Their only drawbacks are they are carbuereted and only have a 3 speed auto.

Nothing at all. The first one is a filler car. Lot 8, first day within the first hour.

If you look at the second car, it is at the end of the second day amongst a bunch of other customs.

Not every car that is in BJ is a potential million dollar car. They fill it with a lot of low end stuff the beginning of each day and towards the end of each day except prime time days. Even then the first cars off tend to be in the lower end of the spectrum.

I don't see what pride there is to have from owning one of those!...I can't believe that people actually pay that much for such ugly, outdated and rust prone vehicles!... It confirms the old saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" :D You can buy a much modern, better performing one for that price!

Claude

It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand. :)

If a guy will pay 1/2 a million for a '70 cuda, a $30K GW is a bargain.

10 years ago I had 3 'cudas (2 were factory 440's, one a 340 Convertable) and an '89 GW. The GW road, drove, braked and handled better than any of the 'cudas. I could drive it much deeper into a corner on a windy mountain road without fear of it snapping around and killing me.

I drove the GW to work everyday and loved it. I'd take a 'Cuda to work on Friday's once in a while and I hated it.

"UNGN", yeah, I guess you're right about it being a "Jeep thing"...By the same reasoning, I suppose that some people don't understand our interest in turbo Buicks either...
"to each his own"...
Claude

P.S: ...as for paying 1/2 million for a '70 'Cuda, well...   :o  I politely respect these peoples choices... but don't understand though...

That is insane, I had no idea!

I didn't believe it either. I sold my '89 for $6500 in 1999. It had 80K miles on it but it was a one owner, one of a kind special order truck.

I knew I sold it too cheap when my next door neighbor bought one for $12.5K a week after I sold mine (He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed).

There's also the fact that these 80's vehicles are officially "classics" now and nicer examples are getting harder to come by. After they get all their nice muscle cars lined up and run out of consignments for them, they have room left over to add whatever they feel like. Maybe they are feeling out the market to give people an idea as to what's going to be the next big thing. After all, who would've thought the amphicar market would take off. The 86 cutlass that's at the very beginning is nothing special either, but I have it bookmarked because i'm curious as to what it will bring.

The exploder is one of the many vehicles they're selling that came from the show monster garage. What else do you do with something like that?

Claude you are right on the money when you keep talking about how overrated these old vehicles are, and how you can get a much better modern vehicle, yet in the other thread you sound all disappointed that you can't afford one. Are you just jealous or what? Let 'em have all that old crap.

After all, who would've thought the amphicar market would take off.

I can't believe the Amphicar thing, either.

My son's hippy Science teacher has TWO of them. I don't know if she knows what they are "worth", but she still drives them into Grapevine lake like they are still the $4000 car she paid for.

"INEEDAGN", I'm definitely not jealous at all...In fact, I'm thankful for what I've got. I often go to some car shows where I see cars that are much more expensive than mine and I'm not jealous about them for a single second. What I meant in my previous post was that just because of these B-J guys which will create a tendency for everyone to ask ridiculous prices, our hobby will soon become so overpriced that even if we can afford to, we won't have any more fun knowing that we're constantly being ripped off...that takes away all the fun, doesn't it?...That's what I meant...

To own one without woodgrain is just.........unAmerican!

I look at my Roadmaster wagon the same way. Better than any SUV out there. Also a cult following on them. I've had people come up and tell me how they miss the one they sold. I even had one guy ask me when I was filling up with gas if they really got 25MPG. Yes they do. You cant say that when you're talking about a SUV. Even if they are diesel.

I have a theory I call "You Just Dont See Them Anymore". Okay you have cars that they made millions of. 55 Chevys,Pintos,1st gen Mustangs,Vegas,GW,etc. They say the average age of a car is about 14-15 years. As time rolls on the cars get old and scrapped. Everyone remembers their first car or the worst car or whatever car. How many GrandWagoneers,Vegas or even G-bodys did you see when they hit the 15 year mark? Yep! You Just Dont See Them Anymore. Double points if they are clean and still running like a top like the GW in the B-J link.Unfortunetly most if not everybody equates YJDSTA with RARE which means they should be worth some money.

I'll see when my woodgrained Roadmaster wagon hits 15 years old. I'm already stashing parts for a complete resto job.

The only problem with a roadmaster wagon is they are worthless in 1 foot of snow, which was the main reason dad bought the GW for my mother in 1989. He ordered the woodgrain delete because he saw jeeps that rusted out from salt buildup between the fake wood and the paint.

The electronic 2bbl carb was the only bad thing about the truck, which why my mom stopped driving it and I ended up with it as a daily driver. The carb problems were easily solved with a Performer intake and a 600 CFM holley. I got 16 mpg with it, which is 4 better than I get with my 6.0L Yukon.

Roadmasters are great cars, though. Steve Green in Lincoln, NE has a LT1/6 speed Roadmaster Woody he calls "Sporting Wood".
