im wondering what the fastest mph is that any "pretty much stock" TTA or Turbo Regal has gone with the stock factory injectors????

i dont care if its with alky, pump gas, race gas, 0 degrees out, or using nitrous.... what is the fastest MPH with a full weight, NOT CUT UP TO PIECES regal or f-bird?

here is what i saw tonight and was pretty much pissed-

joe reif jr 89 TURBO TRANS AM-
12.13 at 119.84 stock injector tta, , just a good day at the track-

nitto drag radials, 2 psi boost launches, boost under 25psi, and made 4 passes around 118-119mph with the TE44 turbo and stock 90* elbow and stock muffler and midpipe-

do you know how much more i had to get my other car to run 119mph back to back runs with the same turbo????

isnt this a tad high on the mph?

Bryan,
You forgot to add that this was through an ATR 2.5" downpipe (uses the stock 90* elbow), and a 100% unopened motor! I can ony wonder what a 3" Terry Houston DP, a real exhaust, and some slicks would have got me??? My best short time all night was 1.91...This was with 4 gallons of 92, 4 gallons of 114 and denatured alky on #9 pump speed.
Backing up a tad here... I brought the car out with the same state of tune that I was running 111.6 mph just 3 weeks ago, but this time added a TE44 to the picture. Low and behold, at the same measly 20 psi of boost, the TE44 picked me up a SOLID 5 MPH in both the 1/8 and 1/4 mile! Needless to say I was happy:) Now I have to address the question if I'm going to add these new 50's I have sitting on the bench waiting to go??? It's hard to believe that I was pushing stock injectors to 120mph and never seeing the O2's drop below .790 or the EGT go above 1600*...

Damn Joe, I guess your faster than me now ;) I knew you couldnt go "slow" for long...........congrats.

Joe jr
Nice Job Tuneing the car, running that fast with 24 lbs of boost. Good MPH. It sounds like you might be as fast as your Dad (11.70) is running 22 lbs boost with the 50 in.
Big Daddy :D

I went 115 with a stock turbo and injectors. :D I did however, have an ATR 7th. :o I thought there was even a little more left to be had.

I went and dynoed the TTA this AM in the same state of tune it went 119.84 mph...here are the results of 3rd gears pulls.

with OE exhaust and 24-25 psi: 416.6 HP and 539.4 torque.
dumped OE exhaust and 24-25 psi: 426.8 HP and 581.5 torque.

Not too shabby considering the A/F ratio never got over 12:1...
I think with a TH DP and more time, I could have squeezed 450 HP and 600 lb/ft out of her at the same boost levels. The only negative thing to all this is that the turbo's oil seal blew on the way to the track. Luckly for me, the guy I bought it from is one hell of a stand up guy and is willing to pay for a rebuild:)
Fellas, ya don't meet too many people out there willing to do that; thanks again Stephen!

hey joe- i also forgot to mention that your car has a jay carter street chip in it too-
its the same 93 chip ive been preaching about for years!!!

made my stock 87 limited run 12.70's at 111+ with radials and straight 104 sunoco-

im willing to bet that your car will pick up another 1mph with the terry houston d.p. ---

in my best JOE DIRT voice " daang "

nice numbers at the dyno today, what were they exactly before the turbo?? that is quite impressive for stock t-body down buddy-

ps- dont put the 50's on the car just yet, purchase that 2nd hose for the smc alky kit and see what it does with the THDP-

good job!!!!

What kind of fuel pressure are you having to run to keep the 02's in the safe range with the stock injectors and turbo? R.B.

My best time in my combo below was run using a JC110 chip, 116 fuel, 21lbs. of boost and OVER 55psi. of fuel pressure. How come I have to run so much fuel pressure to keep my 02's above 750mv ?

rb69rr,
This might sound crazy, but if you have too much FP, then the computer will see an overly rich condition and trim back the injector PW, thus casuing it to run lean(er). It's kinda like a vicious circle, you think it's running lean based on your low(er) O2's, so you add more FP, thus causing it to trim even more fuel out. Beings that your using 116 fuel and only 21 psi, you might try and back the FP down to say somewhere between 43- 45 psi static and go from there. This is kinda like the TV cable, it's possible to go from a soft shift, to hard, and back to soft again by moving it in too much. Not to mention, at that much FP, just about any of the smaller injectors will not be able to function correctly at 76 psi total FP, let alone the meager stock units! I can say this much though, thus far they've impressed me!! I will eventually hit a preverbial wall with fueling adjustment and have to install the 50's for more flow.

hmmm well

i know for sure if your grounds on the pass side head arent grounded correctly, then the computer will not read 02 value correctly- are your 02's consistant between runs?

how old is your 02 sensor?

55 psi and pure 116 with a race chip????

only running 103 mph- you must have a torque convertor problem-

what is your 1/8th mile time, what tires, what mph

That makes a lot of sense. Never thought about it that way. When I ran the 12.81 my 02's were 734mv going through the traps with no knock. As long as you have no knock, how low can the 02's go and still be safe? Thanks, R.B.

i guess i got ahead of the game there buddy-

if you are seeing 730 02's at only 21 psi and 116 octane, then you have a ground issue-

equipped with the correct computer chip, your car should be in the 830 O2'S FOR THE entire pass with 116 octane

not down to 730!!!

for some reason, your car is picking up low low low 02s and im sure its really really really rich!

pull a plug after the run, check the color of it-

IMO 112 octane, 24 psi of boost, stock turbo, stock injectors, stock intercooler, should still be somewhere in the 800's on the 02's
then again, HOW OLD IS THE O2 SENSOR?? heated or not , how old is it?
this explains the VERY LOW mph on your car-

heck, your car sounds like zaks car here in kc, wot the 02's were 300 at 110- yup, he fought that for awhile.== grounds
