You guys should run the ported anti-surge compressor housings if you want something loud. I just finsihed a Twin turbo supra that I converted to a large single 74mm. with the anti-surge housing and it sounds rediculous. Obviously it'd quiet before it starts to spool (roughly at 4000-4200 rpms), but then it sounds like it's gonna eat the hood and front fenders at any moment. I have a 76GTS on my stage powered buick and it is very loud, but after it passes where the wastegates start to crack open you can't hear anything but rushing air after that. The car has two OPEN turbonetics racegates on the crossover. I prefer the sound of open wastegates to any turbo sound. It does wonders at scaring the $hit out of ricers and rednecks alike Drew
If you really want to hear how loud you your turbo is do this. Find a tunnel or underpass with a fairly good stretch and just let it rip. An open dump is even better I try to make a habit of doing this when ever I can just before coming in to the front gate at Camp Pendleton here in CA. The MP's are like WTF was that?
especially when I do it with race gas and 28pnds of boost is a real attention gainer
My Te44 is WAY loud. Of course I run thru straight pipes with no cat. or mufflers. I have ppl turn thier heads and look around to see what the noise is. Had some kids tell me they thought a jet was taking off!!
