its a turbo t, GM discontinued the t-type name in 86 and replaced it with TURBO T in 87

Little Steve's first GN had a wing like that on it. He got rid of it, not cool on a GN, not so bad on a T. Nice color. It would have to be seen in person to determine if it was a botch job.

That's a GN intercooled fender emblem above the "T"...Some ppl. around here like them on their TRs.
Personally I prefer the "POLICE INTERCEPTOR" badge ...Jimmy.

what about the "Regal" rear fender tags...did those come on a car with "T" on the front fenders?

Nope. Just the T and the rear Regal badge for the side, unless it's a Limited.

Both my car's have the Regal on the rear. Here is a pic of my low milage car(13k), original paint, you can see the emblems on it. Those ones have been removed and should be lined up with the middle black trim on the tail lights.

Non WE4 turbos T's did have the "regal" emblems on the quarters. Kinda mixed feelings about the spoiler but overall a sharp car.

Technically it's just a Turbo Regal. The only "true" Turbo T's are the WE4 cars. All 1987 Buicks with the Y56 suspension package have the T emblems. Not just the Regals. You'll find that emblem on Electras,Somersets,Rivieras and even 4 door LeSabres and you wouldn't call any of them Turbo-T's so it's politically incorrect to call a non-WE4 a Turbo-T.;)

Well explained Eric but what makes the 1987 WE4 a "Turbo T"? Did Buick market it that way perhaps?

Yep, Buick gave it a catchy name just to sell them. You'd have to do some searching through the threads but the general consensus was that with only 1547 sales the WE4 was really a sales flop as the real goal was to create a cheaper "GN" just so Buick could sell more geniune GNs. The real reason Buick sold more than 20,000 GNs in 87. In a way you can equate the WE4 to the Road Runner,GT-37,Ralley 350 and Heavy Chevy of the late 60's and early 70's. Here's a copy of the WE4 brouchure clearly calling it a Turbo-T.

Well we all know you could get the Hemi in a Road Runner, the Heavy Chevy could be ordered with any V8 engine except a 454 which made them suck.

A Ralleye 350 also needed the 455. :p

The WE4 is the GN killer of Turbo Buicks.:biggrin:

Same as the GT37's being GTO killers with the right motor.

All WE4's have the right motor. :)

Now Chesty Morgan only had 73's but they might as well have been 82's. ;)
