what kills coilpacks/modules?

the manufacturers not giving a fvck about the parts they use to build them.
the ones that last the longest without missing seem to be the original powder coated black modules from the 80's
 
I think original coilpack worked well, it died because of loose battery cable.
All aftermarket coilpacs no matter brand havent last long.
I will try type II, i hope it is better.
 
I bought type II ignition system for my buick. Connectors are same and everything is plug and play...

I noticed there is one pin less connected at type II, what is meaning of this pin? Its pink with black stripe....

type 1 gets power from 13 and 14, one for coil and one for module
type 2 gets power for both on pin 13 hence no 14th pin
